Frequent X1/TV sound dropouts

When watching tv with X1, the sound drops out for a few seconds frequently. Doesn't matter which channel, happens on all of them. This has been going on for a while now. There is also a lot of freezing of video on screen and after a few seconds the picture comes back or a message appears onscreen about video problems. Please wait while we fix the problem.

Please help this has become very annoying.

Same here. Audio dropouts for the last 3-4 weeks.  All channels. But not on commercials or recorded content.

@Petek01  Exactly! Not on the commercials!! Funny how that is... But I think it's better now. Have not noticed any sound dropouts recently. Coincidentally, I received a text last week from Xfinity that they were performing upgrades in my area. Installing more fiber to help with increased demand and for future products/features etc.

To confirm, this is with my TV and X1, not streaming. There is a separate thread about streaming sound dropouts:

Well, it's still happening for me now.  Trying to watch the Ryder Cup and it's really frustrating.

@Petek01 It just happened to me when I was responding to you! And It was on a commercial! LOL Was on CBS. Sound cutout for a second. I'm tuning to the Ryder Cup now to see what happens. Will leave this channel on for a bit and report back.

UPDATE: Had the Golf Channel 749 on 30 minutes and did not experience any sound dropouts.

Obviously since the pandemic, Comcast/Xfinity is experiencing unprecedented usage on their system and cannot handle it. I've never had any notable issues with my service prior. With this recent "upgrade" in my area, seems to have fixed/improved it. We shall see.

@mikejguitars This is a relatively old thread.  But in my experience, there are 2 reasons for audio problems.  1) Signal issue or 2) HDMI Cable issue.  Have you tried a refresh or restart of the box?  Check the HDMI cable, maybe even replace (you can get one for free at an Xfinity store).  I'm pretty sure all of my audio problems just went away, all on their own.  Some backend change was made.

We have Xfiniti X1 with a wireless cable box provided by Comcast about 2 weeks ago.  The wireless box replaced a wired box that failed, no signal.  First week, no issues.  Over the last few days the sound has been missing after changing channels, but the sound is fine when returning to the previous channel.

Hi @user_4b2f0c, we would be more than happy to help troubleshoot the issues you are encountering with the audio. Would you be able to check within the settings that your device is receiving a good wireless signal to properly work wirelessly and let us know how many wireless bars the device is receiving?
