Ethernet vs coax cable

Hello,

when my house was built, the electrician put in Ethernet jacks in the living room, but not coaxial jacks. We can only use the Xi6 WiFi boxes because of this.

My question is this:  if TV is internet based, couldn't the X1 Box be hooked up to Ethernet cord and not a coax cable?

if you can hook up the ethernet cable to the xfinity gateway/modem and then to the xi6 then it can work without using your Wifi.

To actually answer your question, no the XG1V4 can’t be hooked up via Ethernet connection

Could you clarify? Does "No it can" mean "yes it can" or "no it cannot"?

ETA: @CCAndrew revised the reply to "... no the XG1V4 can’t be hooked up via Ethernet".

I'm sorry I don't understand your response. What is the acronym you used?

Hi, On the main boxes, ports like ethernet, USB, and HDMI in are reserved for future use.

This is per Comcast themselves.
