ESPN+ App cannot authenticate for all networks

Cannot watch any content from SEC+ and ACC Extra streaming services through espn+ on x1 box. I am getting an authentication error that says to contact comcast. Comcast rep was no help and could not resolve. Everything about my subscription and account indicates I should have access to these streaming services, but it is just not happening.

@XfinityArmand when I went into espn+ initially via box, the TV displays a code and  tells me to go to espn.com/activate on internet and then enter code, and, I'm in. So, no, I'm not entering thise in because there does not seem to be an option for that.

Thanks, can you try resetting your box by removing the power cord for 10-15 seconds then starting back up?

Hi there @user_fd6a95, I am sorry to hear this is still not working. I am happy to troubleshoot this further. Could you please send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? Our team can most definitely take a further look at this issue. To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

  • Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

Hey there, @user_e4e90c! Thank you for bringing your shared concerns to the community for assistance. To clarify, how are you attempting to access ESPSN+ (X1 TV Box, Xfinity Stream app, ESPN app, etc.)?

I am having this exact same issue trying to watch any SEC+ content on the ESPN app via the X1 box.  I attempted a full reboot of the device and that did not help.  The exact error message I am getting is "Authentication failed.  ESPN was not able to authenticate your Comcast account.  If you believe this is an error, please reach out to your cable provider."

This is me reaching out to my cable provider.  Please tell me how to fix this issue.

@XfinityXavier I talked to a service rep on Friday who rebooted my system and that didn't help.  Then they opened a ticket for the back end team.  I was told that I would hear from them in 3-5 days.

To answer your question, though, yes, I am logging into the ESPN app with my primary username.

This appears to be working now.  I tried it again this morning and it didn't work, but then it worked out of the blue.  Not sure if anything was done to fix it.  I didn't do anything different.

I'm happy to hear that the issue was resolved. The ticket you mentioned was likely worked and an issue on the back end was resolved. We do appreciate your time in reaching out to us here on our Xfinity Forums and I hope you have a great day.

Hello @user_693723! Have you tried clearing the cache and cookies and doing a reset to see if the app will allow you to log in after? If you are unsure how to do this, you can find the information here https://comca.st/37gOywa.

Hi, @user_d9fe21. We are aware that we have some X1 customers seeing an error message/code related to "authentication" with ESPN3. I know this has been a headache for everyone. We should be rolling out a fix to get this cleared up, but I don't have a estimated timeframe as of yet. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Having the same issue trying to watch SEC baseball on ESPN+ today. Can watch it fine on my phone. Why not on the TV? Comcast should offer a discount/refund to everyone who is having this issue.

Has this issue still not been resolved?  I am not able to watch ACC or SEC on the ESPN+ app.  I receive an error stating that I need to upgrade with Xfinity, but these channels are already in my package.  Very frustrating.
