DVR staying/not staying on Pause

When I pause some recordings, they stay paused for long periods of time. Others revert back to live tv after maybe five minutes. I saw another closed post about this that did not have a solution or adequate response. I’m wondering if it has to do with the service it comes from. Big network programs tend to stay paused, but ones from places like Ovation don’t stay paused. Did you ever figure this out?  I’d like them to stay paused at least longer than 10 minutes. (And why can’t you organize the tags—alpha, general category or something— to limit scrolling through so many?)

Hello @SDDavis one of our admins @XfinityBrie provided this as a solution.

"All X1 DVR's, including the new Xg1v4, can pause and rewind live TV up to 60 minutes. This is a running tab, though, and if you're pausing and watching TV without catching up to live TV occasionally, the amount of time you can pause shortens. Pressing 'Exit' on the remote twice brings you to current live programming. For instance;

Pause the show from 1:00 pm until 1:10 pm, and resume watching TV = 50 mins of pause time left.

Pause the show again from 1:30 pm until 2:00 pm, and resume watching TV = 20 mins of pause time left.

Press 'Exit' twice until watching the current schedule programming, pause time reset = 60 mins of pause time recalculates

Let me know if this helps! I sometimes need to remember to tune back into current programming when I sleep at night, and I have run into this a few times. If it still isn't resolved, one of our regular Contributors, @BruceW, has noted this can sometimes result from CEC being 'on.' Press the Xfinity button on your remote, navigate to 'Device Settings,' then 'Power Preferences,' and switch 'HDMI Device Control' to OFF.

Give us a shout if that still doesn't resolve the issue, we can pull your account and equipment via a private chat and make sure all the settings are shiny on the back end."

Its not LIVE TV its a RECORDED show that wont stay paused.  It doesnt make any sense - its already recorded - I should be able to pause a RECORDED show and walk away for as long as I want and it should still be paused.  But it always unpauses and goes to live TV.  Is there a setting that states keep recorded show on pause for as long as I want? Please advise.

@XfinityKrista That link has absolutely nothing to do with what the user is asking. The awful "feature" the OP is describing is when you hit pause on a recording or on demand, if you leave it paused for 10 minutes, it will EXIT you out of the show you are watching and go back to live tv. It's a jump scare too because it was quiet from being paused into an unexpected tv show or movie playing from whatever channel was last on. Why does it unpause? We paused it to take a break, we might be on the phone or dealing with something and want to pause more than 10 minutes. 10 minutes is such a short period of time. The recording is already recorded, not live, why can I only pause it for 10 minutes? Your link talks about an old tv guide and how to troubleshoot if you hit the "last" button. This user and everyone else is not touching the remote. Why is there no setting to stop xfinity from unpausing our program for no reason?

@ddom,

The OP stated it changes on their end depending what their watching. Is this the same for you, or does this happen with any and all recordings?
