dvr recordings have sound glitches

My DVR recordings that are older than 3-5 weeks have suddenly developed sound glitches.  Nothing wrong with the video, but sound goes silent for a few seconds on my TV.  When I try to play back the same recording on my computer I get bizarre sounds like a broken record where the blank sound on the TV was.  There is no problem with live TV, nor is there any problem with newly recorded shows.  Also, prior to 3-5 weeks ago all my old recordings played back fine.  We tried re-booting the modem with no luck.  Since the live TV and recent recordings are both ok and since the playback problem exists on BOTH my TV and my computer, my guess is that some event happened on the Xfinity cloud servers to damage all those files.  Any suggestions or are all my recordings now toast?  Thanks!

Hi user_mp36741 👋 I appreciate you taking the time to let us know what's been going on with the sound on your recordings in such great detail! I can easily see how the sound going out every few seconds would make anything unwatchable, but you're in the best place for help, and there's definitely some things we can check on from our end given the troubleshooting steps you've already taken 👍

To get started, please send me a direct chat message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the full service address associated with your account to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the chat icon located at the top right of this forums page.

Hi @user_mp36741, you may have sent the direct message to @XfinitySeth. The direct message needs to be sent to our group "Xfinity Support." I will place the instructions on how to send a direct message to us below.

To send a "Direct Message" to Xfinity Support:
Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Messaging" icon
Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there
- As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list
- An "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
