Disconnected Box Coax?

I have a media rack that has a cable box in it.

Is it ok to leave the coax connected to the system if it no box is connected to it?

It is not a wall outlet. It is an acual coax cable run from the main splitter in the basement. So I would be leaving the male screen end of the coax cable sitting disconnected within the rack.

Not sure if this would allow for potential interference within the cable system?

Theoretically, it could but wrap it in tape or something to guard against noise/interference

Systems that use coax are most stable if each cable is properly terminated at both ends. Leaving one end "open" will probably be OK, but could possibly cause problems for other parts of the system. Proper termination is safer.
