Can't watch recording programs

Occasionally, I cannot watch recording programs.  Xfinity/Saved/Recordings - select recording program and there is no "Watch" option.  The options Start with "Episodes".  Once the program is done recording the "Watch" option is available.  Doesn't happen all the time but has happened occasionaly for a while now.  Watching on the X1 DVR box - have not tried the problem on the little satellite boxes.

Did a system reset, and it happened again.  Recording Monday Night Football.  Tried to watch the game while it was recording and there was no "Watch" option available.  Tried 20 minutes later (while still recording) and the "Watch" option was there.

when/if that happens, in the list of recordings, press the play button on the remote.

@Rustyben Yep, the play button maneuver worked for me. Good tip, but Comcast needs to up the priority of this software bug. This problem hits me about 1/10 times I want to watch a show that's in the process of being recorded. Glad I have a workaround now, but please fix it, Comcast.

I will try the play button, but I do hate defective software...especially when I am paying for it.

Hi, Anon208534. Thanks for making us aware of this. It sounds like it's one of those one-off technical occurrences, since it's happening at random and only occasionally. It's still something we can report/look into. Have you noticed if this happens with sports content specifically? If you get around to it, would you mind letting us know if the satellite boxes have the same issue? Our last question would be, are you recording multiple shows during the time you notice this happening?

Thank you for letting us know, @tftaylor12. Have you attempted accessing it with the play/pause button to see if it allows you to watch it when it's recording? Are any errors appearing? Please send us a chat message with your first and last name. The Peer to Peer chat icon is located at the top right of the Community Forum page, clicking on the chat icon will allow you to initiate a chat conversation with us directly. Please ensure you are sending your message to our 'Xfinity Support' handle. I want to ensure we get a ticket opened for this, so it may be reviewed further.

I no longer work for Comcast.

Hi, jcapik. We are sorry to hear that, but thank you for letting us know! We will see what we can do to help. You aren't getting any tuner conflict error or anything are you?

Happened to me tonight. Recording only one show and the no other cable boxes turned on in the house. Trying to watch a show that has been for almost two hours. The suggestion above worked tonight. Went to Xfinity/Saved and positioned on the show and hit the Pause/Play button and the show started playing. Never had this happen before. Tried turning off the DVR first and did not resolve.

It happens to me too. The last few nights, the ABC network channel was recording. I went to view the show in the middle of the recording and there was no watch button. This has happened more and more. It is random when this issue occurs, but it seems to be happening a bit more lately.

Good morning @LefRon and thank you for letting us know that you are also experiencing this on ABC network. I'm sorry to hear this but rest assured our team is here to help. Are you receiving any error codes or messages when recording? What troubleshooting steps have you tried thus far and do you experience this with any other channels?

This just started happening for me this week on my early local NBC news.  I used to be able to start watching while it was recording and now I can’t.

Hey @user_e690b6 sorry to hear you are also experiencing this issue. To better assist you, can you tell me if this is the only channel you are having issues with? Do you get any error when you try to access the program? Have you tried the play/pause button? Or what steps have you tried, if any?

Seems like an on problem.  We recorded several programs to watch later.  While watching one the tv goes black and doesn’t respond to any button clicked.  Local store changed boxes twice last week.  Problem still exists.  Get message can’t connect to internet.  However, i saw clicking exit 3 times and entering 720, tv now come on after a few minutes.  This is very annoying.  Also, when first turning on tv we get a message no connection after waiting a while tv does come on.  Seems like Comcast engineering could find a fix.  Does not happen watching live tv. Thanks

That is a pretty strange problem. I'd love to take a look and find out what's going on. In order to get started can you please send me a private message to Xfinity Support with your full name and full address by clicking the chat icon in the top right?
