Cable box

Lately I have had my cable box pop up a message asking me if I'm still watching? I have my box to update between midnight and 2 am. I can binge watch on one channel. What would cause this message? Just started recently. Received two messages now.

That is definitely a great question! While you are enjoying your shows and movies, the system will automatically ask if you are still watching because it thinks that it is idle, since you have not touched the remote or made any changes to what you are watching.

Can you please add an "OFF" selection to the screen saver?! I paid for my service 24/7, idle is not an option!

I agree, please add an off selection to the screen saver. It is ridiculous that we pay so much and cannot control this.

Did you know that in your Settings Menu on your X1 device, you can adjust when your screen saver appears?

To access Device Settings:

  1. Press the xfinity button on the remote.
  2. Highlight Settings (the gear icon) and press OK.
  3. Use the down arrow on the remote to highlight Device Settings and press OK.
  4. Use the down arrow on the remote to highlight Screen Saver and press OK.
  5. Highlight Screen Saver Starts After and press OK.
  6. Use the up arrow or down arrow button to highlight when the screen saver will start - 5 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes or 5 hours. Press OK.
  7. Press Exit to finish.

Also, you can change your screen saver type as well.

  1. Press the xfinity button on the remote.
  2. Highlight Settings (the gear icon) and press OK.
  3. Use the down arrow on the remote to highlight Device Settings and press OK.
  4. Use the down arrow on the remote to highlight Screen Saver and press OK.
  5. Highlight Screen Saver Type and press OK.
  6. Use the up arrow or down arrow button to highlight one of the following categories of images: LandscapeEntertainment or Animals. Press OK.
  7. Press Exit to finish.

this is the new 'nap' feature that Comcast decided to put in disregarding the existing menu of screen saver that itself has a 5 hour limit. the 4 hour is essentially the same if not worse in that it turns off the tuner so that the buffer is lost and not building. It can't be turned off and is fully implemented by Comcast in the set top box's firmware updates.
