Auto Extend Still Availabe?
Is the auto extend recording feature still in effect? Used to just say auto extend enabled for a sports program, now I don’t see anything regarding that.

Greetings, LeeSoFL. Thanks so much for taking the time to post here in the community!
Take a look at this for me: https://comca.st/3C8MOQm. Is that the feature you're wondering about?

No. The feature I’m talking about automatically extended sports programs if they ran over the time allotted. It used to say auto extend enabled. It is not auto pad or auto play next episode. It was called auto extend.

For those posting from Comcast, have you worked there for just a week or two? "Auto Extend" is totally different than "Change Start/Stop time" and it is not a feature that changed several years ago, it changed within the last couple weeks!!!
Looks like another great feature Comcast added and then took away-for some reason. I suppose "Smart Resume" will be next.

Why do some shows offer the option to "modify" and add 3 minutes to a program, while others offer the least amount of time at 30 minutes.
Why would there be a difference in extend time from one program to another?

Recording Start Times: The DVR is synced with the TV listings. If a network starts a program a minute earlier than the on-screen program guide's scheduled time, the DVR will miss that first minute, unless you program the DVR to start a minute early. Start times may be adjusted on the Record Options screen. Learn more about changing the start or stop time of a recording on your X1 DVR.
Auto Extend: In case an auto-extendable program you’ve scheduled to record runs over the scheduled time, Auto Extend will automatically extend your recording by 90 minutes and end once the program is over. Game recordings run 15 minutes after the end of the game to account for post-game activities.

It is idiotic that xfinity does not provide the auto-extend feature that I had with DISH. Maybe I'll go back to Dish.

Having the same issue. Have been recording the same team basketball games for MANY YEARS with no problem. Now suddenly last week I missed the end of a game when the recording ended! When I went in to check the team recording options, there is no longer any option to start early or late. I now have to go into each individual game recording and extend it 30 minutes to make sure I don't miss anything. It is very common for sports to extend beyond the published schedule. This needs to be fixed asap.

The feature is missing for me too, disappeared during the Red Sox playoff games. It shows up when I set a team recording but doesn't actually work when the recording is on. Would love to hear from someone knowledgeable at Xfinity, The page that they have referenced in the past is the standard vanilla information throughout the web site, useless.

there were issues with this feature, it never worked right on a consistent basis. I guess they finally decided it was too hard to fix and deleted the feature. so I always add 90 minutes to the end time for all live events. this works most of the time, some events (notably nascar races) can go later than that when it's raining, so be aware of this and add extra time, either by recording the event from the channel bar (the far left thing in the guide) which allows you to record the channel on a time basis, or by adding extra shows after the race should be long over, which you can delete later.

Okay...since all Comcast seems to be able to do is point to the same 'users manual language' ( "In case an auto-extendable program you’ve scheduled to record runs over the scheduled time, Auto Extend will automatically extend your recording by 90 minutes...")...answer this; why are sporting events no longer considered "auto extendable"? Sitting here checking college basketball (men & women), college football, NHL, NBA, NFL, PL football, Auto racing, golf...NONE say they will be or can be auto extended! If sporting events aren't auto extendable, what types of programs are? Or need to be?

I've found that this capability is not working as it should for PGA golf. I've reported this before but it still is a problem
When I DVR'ed the PGA on Thursday and Friday on golf channel it added 90 minutes to the recording even though on those days the broadcast always ends on time.
On Sunday, 2/13/2022 (yesterday), for the CBS broadcast, when there was a playoff auto extend did not happen.
Why have people been reporting this behavior for over a year but Comcast still isn't able to correct it? Very disappointing.

I'm reposting this again since the same problem happened Sunday. I will continue to post whenever it happens until it gets some attention from Comcast.
