If you attempt to play 4k content and you are presented with a message on your current box that you need an upgrade you should be able to handle that upgrade from the warning message. If that is the case make sure your shipping address is correct.
A local store can help you as well or you can call to upgrade.
FYI Triggering an incompatible app from the voice remote should offer you this as well as one time a friend of mine found this out with trying to play Disney Plus on their box and it was not compatible

Xfinity has two 4K X1 boxes - the wired XG1v4 DVR and the wireless Xi6. There's very little 4K content, tho. Some live sports and apps like Netflix.
