4k not working through AV receiver

I recently purchased a new 4k UHD TV and received the XG1v4 after contacting comcast support. I use an Anthem MRX 720 receiver for all my AV connections. The receiver just passes the video signals through. The receiver is connected to the TV via a high-speed HDMI cable. The XG1v4 is connected to one of the HDMI inputs on the receiver.

In the Device Settings->Video Display section of the X1 settings, there is a message that 4K UHD is undetected.

When I select either of the 4K output resolutions anyway, I get a black screen which eventually goes away and the original 1080p resolution is still in place.

An Apple TV connected the same way (using the same cables and ports) is providing full Dolby Vision 4K UHD so I am confident this isn’t an issue with the receiver or TV or cabling.

There seems to be a problem with the ability of the XG1v4 to properly detect 4K capability.

Is there a firmware update or something that I might be missing on the XG1?

Please don’t suggest that I connect the XG1 directly to the TV. That works, but not supporting an AV receiver is unacceptable.

Can you get 4K on You Tube using the tv's You Tube app?  You allows you to confirm you are actually watching a 4k (or 8K) program in 4K.

@MNtundraRET as I mentioned, I’m able to watch Apple TV in 4K through the AV receiver. To answer your direct question, I’m also able to watch Apple TV in 4K using the app on the television.

Hello @geekman! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us here on the Xfinity Forums for support.

I see it has been a few days since you last posted here and I wanted to check in to see if you found a solution or if you are still in need of some help?

I no longer work for Comcast.

No, I haven’t found a solution.

There's not a great deal of content being broadcast in 4K right now, so that may be causing this irregularity. Have you tried streaming any of the 4K apps on the DVR, like Netflix, Prime, YouTube, etc., to see if they are being detected properly, like your Apple TV?

"Geekman" stated earlier that he was getting 4K using other apps not involving Xfinty.

I had the same exact problem. I disconnected my receiver, tv and cable box. I rebooted all and reconnected. Cable box then recognized tv. Hope this helps as I was pulling my hair out with various settings on all devices🤣
