4K HDR

4K washed out color.  Changed to 2160p30 resolution color vibrant.  Why does resolution setting 2160p60 cause colors to wash out?   How do I tell if HDR is working?

X1 4k, 65" OLED Olympic channel 1530.  HDR works fine at 30fps but not at 60fps

HI @Jrotten  Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the X1 4k box and the Olympic channel. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you. Is this happening on any other channel or just the 4k content?

@Jrotten I have two XG1v4 boxes set to Best Available 2160p60 UHD and I get beautiful HDR colors on an LG C1 and LG G2.  However, on one of them, the USA4K HDR channel is sometimes washed out and does not trip the HDR settings on the TV.  Rebooting the box has always fixed it.  Irritating, but not frequent enough for me to swap the boxes to see if the problem follows the one box.

I've not had this problem with any other 4K HDR content.  But, Xfinity rarely provides 4K on a channel.  Comcast 4K is almost always an IP connection that can only be accessed using the voice remote.

@XfinityJanelle

@Jrotten Well, one of my 4K boxes has developed your problem.  It did HDR on the 2160p60 UHD setting just fine for the last two years.  Now, suddenly, I get SDR from HDR sources using that setting and I need to change to 30fps to get HDR.  I picked up another XG1v4 from the local Xfinity store and it has the same problem.   My other XG1v4 still does HDR at 60fps.  I need to swap the boxes between rooms to see if the output moves with the boxes or stays with the rooms.  But, again, this is something new after working fine at 60fps in that one room/box for a couple of years.

SOLUTION!

I should have checked this before contacting support and getting a new box.  The 4K HDMI input on my family room receiver was set to Standard rather than Enhanced.  Switched to Enhanced and I am now getting HDR with the 60fps setting.

Love it when my kids change settings!  I set it to Enhanced years ago and it's been working fine all along.  Oh well.  All OK again now.

Thanks for the update and letting us know about the settings. It's great to hear you are now able to enjoy HDR, and everything is working fine. I also appreciate you providing your solution here in case others with your device run into the same situation.
