Why does xfinity prefer long-time customers leave, rather than offer a promotion?

I've been a long-time customer of xfinity (15 years). A few years ago we came across Xfinity mobile and loved the price and convenience. Both my wife and I now need a new phone. Xfinity currently offers a promotion to new customers for $400 off a new iphone, however, current customers do not get any promotional discount. Version on the other hand will give us 2 free phones to switch. I called Xfinity to try to see if I could simply get the promotional offer for the new phones and stick with them. They told me on the phone that they cannot do that and I may as well go with Verizon. How is it a good business practice to not try to keep your current customers that previously had no intention of leaving? I don't enjoy going through the effort of changing carriers but I can't deny a $2000 savings on phones from switching carriers when Xfinity won't even offer a dime to keep a 15 year customer. People are better off just switching every few years I guess.

@user_zzq8fx It's probably just that Xfinity Mobile doesn't have any deals for current customers at the moment. I'm constantly receiving emails in my Xfinity inbox with promotions for phones and whatnot. Xfinity Rewards offers deals sometimes also. If you don't need a new phone right away, maybe something will show up in the coming weeks.

Truly, One more thing that is totally absurd for Xfinity is there taxes and fees. For 15$ per gig plan they charge @$14.32 as taxes. Taxes will only increase with lines or data but will not decrease with reduction in lines and data. Sometime I feel cheated moving to Xfinity but got stuck with their contract.

@user_5qw5os Did you mean $4.32 in taxes not $14.32? My taxes are $4.50.

@DreamSayerZ No, it is $14.32. That's why it is unreasonable.

With two lines on a by-the-gig plan, I am seeing under $4.00/month in "taxes, fees, and other charges" whether we are in a 1GB month or a 3GB month. Some taxes and fees might vary depending upon your state but what you are seeing seems very high. Is that the billing line you're looking at, and how is it broken down in details?

I get what you are saying about this and it doesn't seem right.  However, I will say that it does seem like twice a year for the past several years, there have been the same promo for current customers as for new customers for Samsung (seems to be around Feb-Mar) and for iPhone (in the fall).  I have been upgraded my Samsung multiple times over the years during that time where it gets the same several hundred dollar off deal as the new customers.

Yea I was about to get a deal they had last week on the RAZR 2024 and they had a deal to give me 500 off on the phone. And I got look today cause I was waiting for payday. And they switched it again. The do this all the time. Why switch if every other week and it's true they don't offer long time customers any kinda of deal on new phones or even if we paid our bills on time for year any kind of special financing. Or they go off your credit when you first gotten with them and do offer to run your credit again to see if you qualify for payments rather than years ago. I'm sure if I go to the actual store they could buy some ppl don't have time to do that. Xfinity take care of your long time customers better. It's trash.

I just got home from the Xfinity store looking for a deal to replace a damaged Iphone. I was told they don't have offers for iPhones, but I can check with a different carrier.

I too am a long time customer 20+ Years Comcast 2 Years Mobile.

@user_481fe2 They will likely start having deals on iPhones next month when the new phones are released. If you can wait...

Will there be any promo for an iphone for existing customers this fall?

I have been waiting for an iphone deal for an existing customer since the iphone 14. My husband got an iphone 14 for $400 off at the time and i decided to wait since my phone was still good. We are now on the iphone 16 and the only current deal for existing customers is a reward coupon for $200 off that is located in your rewards section in your xfinity account when you also have internet. There is also a $100 off the iphone 15 for existing customers. The only way to get a good deal would be to leave temporarily and come back, but some of the iphone deals require that you purchase the unlimited plan and I'm not interested in that.

You have to look closely at those "good deals". They involve bill credits for X many months. You are stuck with your mobile carrier until the phone is paid off. If you leave early, there are penalties.
