Someone ordered a phone under my name

Sounds like I am having the same problem as a lot of others. I'm in TN and someone with a Illinois area code ordered a phone and it was placed on an Xfinity mobile account that I didn't have. I have Verizon service. They even added an American Express credit card on the account. I have never had an American Express card. You you think Xfinity could seen the card doesn't have my name on it. Xfinity said they couldn't stop shipment on the phone because it had already been processed. Xfinity said to refuse the package that should have required a signature from FedEx. FedEx left the phone on my porch. At least I had possession of the phone. I called FedEx and after a week they picked the phone back up. After the phone was returned I did notice the device was removed from the fraudulent account.  Now someone American Express card number still remains on the account, but I suppose it has been canceled because Xfinity send the balance of $25.99 to a collection agency. What can I do. I was on the phone with Xfinity a total of 5 hours on 2 different phone calls. I even talked to the fraud department and did everything they said do. What else can I do to clear this up and clear the account. After this Xfinity screw-up I would never have a phone from Xfinity!!

Greetings, @user_23577c ! Thanks for reaching out to us on the Forums! I hope you are having an amazing day! I certainly apologize to hear of this situation you went through and understand where you are coming from as far as someone using your information to order the phone. It sounds like you had already went through the right channels. Did the fraud department from the mobile department say anything like they were be further reviewing this incident?

The fraud department was less than helpful, if thats possible. No one really help me at all. It was hard to get someone that could speak English well enough to understand.If they had helped then this wouldn't have been turned over to a collection company.

Same happened to me now.. Xfinity says the driver's license was sent from my registered mail address, which is abrupt lie, my email address is safe with me, the last activity shows only my changes and no one seems to have accessed my email address, what could have happened?

I'm in the same situation. Someone opened xfinity mobile under my name and ssn# but at an address i've never lived in and all of the sudden i get a notice that i oew $1470 to a collection agency. I called the collection agency and filed a dispute. I then called xfinity, who's associates were completely useless and said that since its in collections they can't do anything. They kept transferring me back to the collection agency and it was repeatedly the wrong agency. I filed a report with the FTC. I also filled out xfinity's fraud packet, notified the credit bureau's of the fraudulent activity. What I am wondering, is why does it not show on my credit report that someone had used my ssn# for xfinity to show someone ran my credit but all of the sudden over a year later i get a notification from my credit agency that something went to collections. Are certain xfinity employees in on the scam and sell our information to others and then not actually run credit to avoid the real person getting an alert from the credit bureau's that their credit was run? For everything else that requires a credit check, I get a notification  almost instantly from the credit bureau's that my credit was run. I am awaiting the investigation result but will be ready with an attorney should xfinity not resolve this issue by removing any negative impact on my credit and removing any balance that was fraudulently added to my credit report.

I just had a Xfinity employee proceed with signing me up for a mobile plan with a mobile phone to my ssn and even charged my credit card on file without my authorization and in fact with my verbal disapproval. I knew he was trying to pull something on me when he kept sending me contracts that did not have anything I asked for. There are a ton of scammers that are employees at Xfinity. I filed an FTC claim, froze my cc, ssn and credit and will be reaching out to a lawyer for the negligence and lack of security in their system. I am beyond frustrated that I have to go through Al l this trouble to a company I’ve been with for over 20 years.

@user_ee962a If you are meeting an attorney let me know too, can we jointly file a suit against Xfinity? Seems there are many affected.

On call for over 2 hrs with Xfinity mobile support.. this is clearly insider job and they are misusing the customer information, creating lines and devices as needed. Ridiculous

@user_463f5c

Same story, recently happened to me.  I’m filing a law suit.  Feel free to email me if you want to join in or just follow results.  The only way Xfinity will stop hurting people is by getting the upper management to see and feel the problem.    I’m afraid only $ will do this.

@user_463f5c  Happened to me.  I'm suing them.  Can't wait to get them into court.  Feel free to contact me if you want status.  Keep all records pertaining to the phone.  You can subpoena phone and chat records.  We need to make them stop this egregious practice.  Someone on the inside is making commissions off of phony cell phone orders knowing that Xfinity isn't policing.
