What is this on demand service actually called?
I was investigating the symbols shown in the on screen schedule. I found one that intrigued me. Next to some show names that are currently playing there was a play/stop icon. I found that if you missed the beginning of a show you can scroll to it in the guide and if the icon is there then press the play/stop icon on the remote. It causes the show to be selected and plays from the beginning. What is this feature called? Where is it documented? Why only certain shows?

Hello u/denmarks43 , X1 now features a simplified interface and quicker navigation to continue watching live TV, episodes or playlist content. You can still fast forward, rewind and jump using the buttons on your remote.
As part of a recent update to the X1 video playback controls, we've added three new buttons:
Jump Back
Live
Next
These buttons enable you to quickly navigate within the program you're viewing and between programs in a playlist. The Jump Back button sends you back to the beginning of a program, while the Live button joins you in progress to the program or recording you're watching.

You may have misunderstood. Assume nothing is being recorded and I am watching live program A. Fifteen minutes after it starts I look at the guide and see there was a better live show called B that I really wanted to see. If program B has the stop/start icon next to the program name I can click on that button on my remote and it will start program B from the beginning. At one point I tried to skip forward to skip a commercial and it told me that feature was not available. This feature only works if I am in the guide and have scrolled to program B. I then click on the start/stop button on the remote. If I end the program I am back in the guide.
I have never used a playlist and am not even sure how it works. I assume it is for an on demand list. Where can I find documentation for all these features?
