On Demand not updating ABC TV Shows on any of our cable boxes - Error Msg M!DCBPF

We have 4 Legacy Cable boxes.  This problem is happening on all 4 boxes.  "The View" has been missing from the OnDemand selection listing for the entire summer.  Up until 7 days ago, I was able to do an OnDemand Search and keystroke it in with the remote and find the show.  Now when I key it in, I get error message M!DCBPF.  So all seasons of the view are missing.  Also, missing is updates for the new season 4 "The Conners".  What appears in the OnDemand Search listing is last season, but I was able to watch the Season 4 premier 9 days ago by keying it in on the OnDemand Search.  Now when I try to watch the 2nd episode of season 4 thru OnDemand, by keying it in to the Search feature, I get the same error message M!DCBPF.  "Greys Anatomy" is not in the Search Listing and neither is "Station 19".  Both of those shows had premiers 3 days ago.    When I try to key them in using the Search Feature I get the same error message.  All the shows on other channels seem to be updating in OnDemand just fine.  It is just the ABC shows.  When I go to OnDemand by channel listing, the OnDemand Content listing for ABC only shows 18 TV shows.  The OnDemand Content listing for NBC and CBS show  50+ shows, so you can definitely see that content has disappeared from the ABC selection.  We have unplugged each of the cable boxes to reset, so I know it's not our equipment.  What is going on with the OnDemand content on ABC?  When can we see our shows reappear on the OnDemand selection list and be updated for the new season.   We DO NOT have X1 Service and have the older Legacy type boxes.  OnDemand service is part of what we are paying for and it is frustrating that we can't see our favorite shows through OnDemand.

Same problem for me, except even keying it in through search doesn’t, and trying to explain to phone reps is so frustrating.  All they seem capable of doing are resets.  Am ready to find another provider.  I’m tired of having to chase down services I’m paying for.

@DCL1

Thank you for following my OnDemand issue. I am waiting for a reply from Xfinity/Comcast.   Do you also have the older legacy cable boxes (not the X-1 boxes) ?

Are you still having the problem with missing content OnDemand?  I still can't get new ABC shows OnDemand and have contacted Xfinity Support.  They are "looking into it" but I am not hopeful.

You can add "Big Sky" to the list of missing shows; its season premiere was the same night as "Grey's Anatomy" and "Station 19" (Thursday 09/30/21).

Can't tell if the problem might be missing "folders" due to the search issues.

Search errors such as these have been reported several times in this forum, and so far I have seen no response from Comcast that would indicate any attempt to address the problem.

@CactusThorn

Thx for responding to my post about missing OnDemand shows, especially on ABC.  Do you also have the older Legacy Cable Boxes, like me or the X1 (newer type).  I am wondering if the X1 customers are also having this issue or if they are trying to force us older users, with older equipment, to update to the X1 format.

@user_55b1b2 I have a "Legacy" box.  As far as I can tell, X1 doesn't have folders.  Tomorrow night I should be at a home with X1 and will see if I can find any of these shows there.  Stay tuned.

I think there used to be On Demand listings online, but I can't find them.  (I was going to try to look there for the ABC shows.)

@user_55b1b2 Last night I was able to poke through X1 listings.  I checked ABC shows.  They had all the expected episodes of "The Rookie," "The Good Doctor," "Grey's Anatomy," "Big Sky" and "Station 19."  All the expected new-season episodes were present there, both HD and SD.  (Sorry, forgot to check "The Connors.")

Last night I saw that "Grey's Anatomy" has appeared in the network folder on my legacy box.  Today I tried search and it seemed to work (miracle of miracles) on "Big Sky" and "Station 19".

Whoops, I just went back to check.  All six of these shows (including "Connors" S4) seem to be in the ABC folder now; they appeared after I started writing this.  With that, and search seeming to work, I have to say "Thank you, Comcast!" (but I'm keeping my fingers crossed).

Note, I did not check the A-Z folders though; there is so much stuff there that it takes more time than I have right now.

I wonder if Comcast is is contract talks with these Networks.  I thought I saw something about this in another section of the website.  I believe the link/address is on my Xfinity bill.

These Networks were listed as in negotiations for October:  FX, ABC (some affiliates), Nat Geo Wild and National Geographic.

I wonder if X1 customers are having this same issue with OnDemand, or if it is only an issue with customers using older "Legacy" cable boxes.  I wouldn't put it past Comcast to use this issue as a ploy to get everyone to update to the X1 Platform.

Here is the link to the Contract Renewals page:  Upcoming Contract Renewals (xfinity.com)

I don't see why we, the customers, need to be "punished" while these contract talks are going on.  Very poor on Comcast's part.

@Jed319

Thank you for your comments.  I guess it is possible that Comcast is in talks with the ABC network.   I find it odd that The Rookie, which is an ABC show, is one of the few that I can key in through the search feature and find the new episodes.

@Jed319 I don't see ABC on that contract renewals list, just a few specific (local) ABC stations.

@CactusThorn ABC is owned by Disney, so they could possibly be in talks, because Disney is on that list.

We are having same problem.  No Rookie, Big Sky, Good Doctor on demand.  We pay for this service (or should I say no service).  Spent one hour on phone.  First was told it was technical problem.  Then it was the box.  If it was box we wouldn’t be getting NBC and CBS on demand.  We were told it would take an hour to fix and then ABC would be on demand.  Well, 4 hours later, nothing happened.  You never can get same person you originally spoke with so they just tell you it will be fixed.  Something has to be done.  This is getting ridiculous.

@user_41336f

The 1st episode of the new season of The Rookie was OnDemand the day after its premier on 9/26 until Sept. 30th then it disappeared.  I know, because I was able to record it from OnDemand the next day.   I am currently in a running discussion with Xfinity help thru the forum.  I said the same thing, that it can't be the box if I can get NBC and CBS OnDemand.  They say they only put out in OnDemand, what they were given by the Networks.   (Passing the buck)  They also said it could be a problem with their signal reaching my boxes.  They are "looking into it",  and wrote up a ticket on it, but I am not hopeful.  I am assuming that you also have the older Legacy type boxes.  The new ABC shows that premiered the last week of Sept. were available OnDemand thru Sept. 30th.  On October 1st, those premier shows then disappeared.  The ABC shows that premiered Sept. 30 and later, were not available on October 1st and still are not available.  It seems that October 1st is the date that something occurred.  I am thinking that it is some type of contract dispute and they took out the OnDemand for that reason on October 1st.  ABC is owned by Disney and maybe ABC wants everyone to buy Disney+ to be able to see the shows OnDemand.  The customer service in our running discussion said the new ABC shows were available on Xfinity Streaming, which I can get on my hubby's phone.  However, I can't seem to get that APP on my TV.  I don't want to watch TV on a phone, when I have a 60" TV.  It is so frustrating.

The reason is Xfinity wants you to commit to the 2 year plan... that is the only way your TV will be able to see shows such as Grey's Anatomy etc. and I think it may cost $5-15 more a month to do so.

Also, just came across this:

Access to Peacock, Netflix, YouTube, Hulu, Spotify, ESPN Deportes, ESPN3, Pandora, iHeartRadio and Prime Video on Xfinity X1 requires an eligible set-top box with Xfinity TV and Internet service. Subscriptions required to access Peacock, Netflix, Hulu, Spotify, Pandora, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+. Peacock Premium has a $4.99/month value. Viewing will count against any Xfinity data plan. Restrictions apply. Not available in all areas. © 2021 Comcast. All rights reserved. Individual programs and marks are the property of their respective owners. (All Disney+ content © 2021 Disney and its related entities). © 2021 & TM Lucasfilm. Ltd

To think I've wasted 3-4 days on the phone, service calls, more phone time.. etc. While all the time it is a matter of the almighty $$$$$$$$$

Xfinity has fixed the problem.  All ABC shows are now shown in the ABC OnDemand folder (except for The View).  I can also get them all by keying them in the Search feature, including The View.  I no longer get error message M!DCBPF.  Thank you to the OnDemand Help Desk.
