Unable to Program Silver Remote to Sony Blu-Ray Player
Hello!
I've been through the Xfinity site in regards to the codes to program the old school silver remote with the red OK button to my parents' Sony Blu-Ray player. The codes start with a Y for some reason, i.e. Y0533. I searched high and low on Google for any indicator as to what the "Y" button could be, but ran out of luck. Does anyone out there know what the proper code might be, or whether it's even possible?

The Comcast remotes are not true universal remotes. They are designed to give full control over the cable box, and some basic control over the TV (power, volume, input selection) and/or separate audio system (volume, power).
The old-school remotes can be programmed with a computer and a special cable (note the 6-pin header in the battery compartment.) The remote was made by Universal Electronics (UEI), which make many remotes. The connection is called JP1 and there is software created by users who have reverse-engineered it. Probably not useful for most people.
