RNG 150 Graphics Squeezed

Yes I STILL use a Cisco RNG 150 (In addition to 4 X1's) - It is a great STB for channel surfing (X1's way too slow.) Anyway, suddenly the graphics on the RNG 150 - the info bar, guide, menu, etc. - are squeezed to a 4:3 aspect ratio while the pic output is still 16:9. While not earth shattering, text is much more difficult to read this way. Not sure how this happened but would like to fix. Tried the HD/ZOOM button, and looked thru the user menus but no luck. I would like to access the diagnostic menu too but I can't find it. Tried about 15 methods I found  googling for it but still no luck. NOTE: I use both the HDMI out AND the analog A/V out (HDMI feeds my HDTV while the A/V out feeds a DVD recorder.) Any Ideas? Thanks in advance.

UPDATE - So it turns out that in addition, all non-HD channels display with black borders surrounding the image - essentially shrinking the image! I'm pretty sure that the it's the default screen settings in the diagnostic menu, but I still can't access it! Tried a multitude of power off / menu / OK / down / "2" combination presses to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hi, . Thanks for creating a post! You're in the right place for help with your picture quality/aspect ratio questions and concerns.

To start, please review this link here for me: https://comca.st/3ia8hAm.

I do have a few follow-up questions to narrow things down even further. Do you any have other devices connected to this TV set that do show the picture correctly, full screen without any black bars?

Hello Morgan and thanks for your reply! The link was very helpful as I found the way to access the advanced menu and after some trial and error I learned that the PASS THRU option is what I like best. I don't know how the setting changed by itself, but I'm back to the way I prefer. In Pass Thru, SD channels - and info bars - stretch to fill the width of the screen with letterboxing on top & bottom while HD channels fill the entire screen. (In every other setting SD channels were postage stamped and the info bar was in 4:3!) To answer your other question, the RNG's analog video out feed a DVD recorder component box that I use to record programs and short clips that would otherwise clog up my X1 DVR. That unit is SD / 4:3 and the channels display and record correctly although most programs have letterboxing since everything these days is shot 16:9. Thanks again! I so do NOT want to have to give up my RNG 150 - it is a perfect second box in my 2-TV / 2 Cable box media center!
