Use the input on your actual tv remote?

What 'tv signal' do you expect to have on any of your TV's input sources if you don't have a TV Box connected?  You can use your TV's remote to change the input source to something else, DVR, rabbit ears, etc

Simply want to reconnect the cable from the wall directly to the back of the TV - without the tv box.  Intent is to to return the tv box and the remote.  Not rocket science, seemed like a simple thing.

There’s no cable tv that comes through cable. Everything is encrypted, hence the need for a cable box. If your smart tv happens to be compatible, or a Roku, you could use the Xfinity Stream app instead of a cable box

If you would’ve posted this right off the bat, it would’ve made giving you direction a lot easier and not rocket science
