Pixelates and tv turns off by itself

The tv pixelates and also turns itself off at random times. Once in a while picture freezes. Had this problem about 18 months ago. The second techician actually knew what he was doing as it worked fine until about 2 months ago. How can this be fixed and what may cause it?
