Hard drive in one of my TiVos died. Can I move my existing CableCARD to a new TiVo?

The hard drive in one of my TiVos died. Its CableCARD still works. I know that new cards are no longer issued. I plan to get a new TiVo. Can I simply buy it and have the existing card re-paired to the new TiVo? Which number would I call?

Unless something has changed in the past year moving your existing cable card to your new TiVo shouldn't be a problem. I have done so on several occasions in the past.

You will have to go through the process of pairing the card to your new TiVo.

Per a response from one of the technicians here in the forums from a month ago, I quote, "...For support with activating your cable card you can call 1-877-405-2298 and, when the IVR requests the reason for the call, state, "CableCARD repair.".

HI there, user_e1bnnk! I am sorry to hear that your TiVo broke! @user_klpl48 is correct. You should have no problem putting the cable card into a new TiVo. They also provided the cable card activation line. You should just have to put in the information for your new TiVo and things will work. Our team is also able to help here if you need any assistance with getting it going. When do you plan to get the new TiVo?

user_e1bnnk You're welcome! Real quick before you purchase a new one, do you know what model of CableCARD you have? Even though your card still works, we are finding that we may not be able to sync it with a new TiVo. I would hate for you to purchase a new device, and not be able to use it. So that our CableCARD customers can ease into the transition, we are offering to swap to an Xfinity X1 box at $0 for the next 12 months.
