DVR Playback

Over the last couple of days I've recorded a few shows from E! And Animal Planet and I can't get them to play back. It says watching them requires a subscription but obviously I have these channels because I recorded the shows! I'm trying to watch them from my TV.  It says to watch this program you'll need to subscribe to this channel. What the heck?
