Can I still get a non-X1 DVR that has an internal hard drive?
I have a rather old Cisco RNG200N two tuner DVR that appears to be wearing out, the hard drive (HD) may be giving up the ghost. I've been reading up on the newer X1/X2 DRVs and have found some things I really don't like:
1. DVR reboots every night to load software updates - won't that interrupt recordings?
2. There may or may not be an internal HD, and if there isn't, you're watching streaming TV at all times - my internet connection goes down frequently due to my modem not being able to reach the Comcast DCHP server (modem is almost brand new). I loose the internet for 10-15 minutes of more sometimes - if a new Xfinity DVR only uses Cloud storage, I may lose the ability to watch TV due to the lack of an internal HD.
3. Lots of complaints about sluggish performance of X1 DVRs after Comcast added streaming services, again I believe due to no HD, and probably the local cable feed being overwhelmed with more data requests than it can handle.
4. X1 DVR costs $10/mo, while I only pay $2.50/mo for the Cisco.
I really like the old style Xfinity DVRs, plus have a spare remote I use with a IR extender so I can watch TV in a 2nd room and change the DVR channel remotely. If the current DVR dies, will I even be offered a non-Cloud based DVR, or has Comcast completely phased out all old DVRs in favor of the new streaming DVRs? (which will force me to pay more money for TV service)

You should be able to simply replace the cable box without having to upgrade, although you may need to fight the heavy-duty upsell they will push at you.
For X1, I assume it will delay that nightly update if a recording is scheduled. Most of the cloud recordings are more like OnDemand-style communication, not streaming. That said, X1 uses it's own built-in modem, and if you have bad signals, it may not work well, if at all.

2.There is an internal hard drive
3.Unfortunately, in a forum setting you will hear a few complaints, but not hear the thousands that have no problems at all. Generally, it’s a signal level issue. Nothing due to what you posted
4. That’s true
Check in at your local service center for a replacement, not many techs carry them anymore

Thanks for the replies. Think I got X1 mixed up with X2, the latter doesn't appear to have a HD.
