Can I run Xfinity cable on a smart tv?
Looking for a new tv, thinking smart, but not 100% sure that's the route to go. If I do get a smart tv will I be able to hook up Xfinity cable?

Hi @user_5d2b0c. thank you for taking the time to post over Xfinity Forums. I promise, if you purchase a TV we have several options to make sure you have Xfinity cable moving forward. I love the fact we provide a wide range of options for our customers. If you are looking to avoid using a box altogether, I recommend picking a smart TV that has our Xfinity Stream App installed.
The app, can be downloaded by Xfinity TV customers without charge and will allows users to watch their entire TV line-up (that you subscribe too) on phones, tablets, and laptops in the home. You can tune-in to more than 200 live channels, access and program your DVR and watch over 40,000 on demand titles. It is awesome!
I am providing you a link to the stream app and a link with a list of compatible devices. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Our team will be on standby to help!

You will still need a gateway with a smart TV. It will not work without a gateway. A smart TV is just a TV that can run apps natively. It has nothing to do with decoding a signal from a company such as xFinity. At one time, some TVs were able to use a cable card to connect withoutout a gateway, but there were significant limitations with them, as they are not two way devices/
