After modem replaced by tech today he is unable to get cable card working on TIVO unit , need someone who still has knowledge of cable card

I had tech come out today because 2 days ago I changed my internet and tv program, before I made change both my internet and tivo box were working fine. I was told by online support there was a signal issue and had to have someone to come out. today they came out and found defective modem but signal was good. Long story short my internet is back up and running but my tv is not because tech had no knowledge of cable cards and neither did his supervisor. What I need is a person in elevated support who knows how to authorize my cable card again since it was fine 2 days ago. If I did not have so much money invested in the Tivo I would not care and get a x1  box , since I had a similar issue a year ago and the tech knew someone to call about it I'm hoping there are some of these people still around who might see this message and can get me going again .

Thank you very much for the details. Right when you mentioned the Tivo, I understood the issue. Back on October 24, 2024, we stopped our support for cable cards, that is what delivers the signal to your Tivo. We are supporting existing customers in a grandfathered support, meaning we would actively support the device unless the existing cable card had an issue as we are not issuing any new cable cards. As of now, unfortunately, it does look like that is case here. To get the TV services back up and running, you would need to use an IP based system or a Xfinity issued unit to access the service.

We are shifting to IP video which has some great third party devices that you can choose from. The Xfinity Stream app on Amazon Fire TV devices lets Xfinity customers enjoy content available with their Xfinity subscription from their Amazon Fire TV device in or out of the home. It lets you stream live news and sports, schedule DVR recordings and watch thousands of Xfinity On Demand shows and movies. Plus, rent or buy movies and shows and watch on any device.

it is an Xfinity issued cable card from a few years ago, I have had it almost 10 years so I am grandfathered in , so can I get support or if I have to get cable box is there a charge for it.

jgro55 Unfortunately, there is no option to modify base package at all, that is what keeping the service in a grandfathered status requires. Once the grandfathered package is modified, the coding for the cable card would be removed, which removes the capability for reactivating the device after a change. The cable card devices also no longer have federally mandated support, that paired with a strong majority of our customers have moved to IP based systems or just use the stand alone Xfinity stream app.
