Thank you for reaching out! I understand how frustrating it can be to lose internet access after installing a new operating system like Linux. While your Xfinity modem should support devices running Linux, there may be some settings or compatibility issues causing this problem. Let’s troubleshoot together to get you back online.

Steps to Fix the Issue:

  1. Check Device Connection:

    • Ensure your Linux PC is properly connected to the modem via Ethernet or WiFi.
    • Run a connection test to verify if the PC is receiving an IP address from the modem.
  2. Restart Your Modem and PC:

    • Power cycle your modem by unplugging it for 1-2 minutes, then plug it back in. Restart your Linux PC as well and try reconnecting.
  3. Verify Modem Settings:

    • Access your modem’s admin interface by typing http://10.0.0.1 in a browser. Log in with your admin credentials (default is often "admin" and "password" unless changed).
    • Check for device connection under "Connected Devices" to see if your PC is listed.
    • Ensure that MAC address filtering or advanced security settings are not blocking the device.
  4. Update Network Configuration on Linux:

    • Confirm that the network settings on your Linux PC are configured for DHCP (dynamic IP assignment).
    • Test the connection by running commands like ping 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS) to check connectivity.
  5. Disable Advanced Security Features:

    • If you’re using the xFi Advanced Security feature, it might incorrectly flag the new device as suspicious. Disable it temporarily through the Xfinity app under the "Network" tab to see if this resolves the issue.

If you’ve tried these steps and are still unable to connect, let me know so we can investigate further. I can also assist with checking your account settings or running a diagnostic test on your modem to ensure everything is configured correctly.

Looking forward to getting this resolved for you!
