Can’t Post Forum Question from Computer , Description Field is Grayed Out
Greets, I cannot post a new forum question from laptop or desktop computer using multiple browsers, I cleared history/cookies, still doesn’t work? Can only post from cell phone.
What is causing this?
Thanks

You might have missed the post above from XfinityJessie on Monday morning saying the cause is a coding problem they are working to fix.

I got an xfinity email “reminder” to accept forum post as solution but so far there is no solution!
Refreshing what I did to try workaround: tried posting from an HP/Win 10 laptop, Dell/Ubuntu laptop, Lenovo/Win 10 desktop.
logged in/logged out, cleared all cookies/history etc. still not able to post on any of the above.

FYI I’m having the same problem on my older Fujitsu Win 10 laptop. Whether I’m using the Chrome or Firefox browser, I can login (another vexing problem I got fixed by clearing all cache, cookies & history), but can’t post or comment on the forums (the Description field is always gray). I can post on my iPad using Safari (as in this post).

One of my alternate browsers is SeaMonkey and I cannot post here using it. As described, the Comment/Reply area is greyed out; well, not really greyed out, it just doesn't populate with the editing tools. Already reported this earlier. However, at one point in time, I could post using it. There is no telling what the problem is or where it lies. Or how long it will take them to identify the problem since it seems to affect some people differently using different computers and browsers.

This just happened to me a few days ago using Firefox. Chrome worked an additional day or two, but now it too is locked out. Edge still works and is what I'm using now (much rather be using Firefox).
Has anyone noticed that when using Firefox user avatars do not render correctly? Here's how XfinityJessie's avatar should look in this topic:
and here's how it actually looks in Firefox:
Also, when I'm logged out of the Forums and out of Xfinity, Avatars render correctly, and I can enter text into Reply and Comment text entry boxes. I still can't post because when I click the Post button I'm prompted to log in, and when I do the text entry boxes are cleared and become inaccessible again. This behavior suggests to me that the problem is the code sent to the browser by Comcast. Firefox doesn't care if I'm logged in or not, the accessibility of Forum text entry boxes is controlled by Comcast's servers.

Note that, as stated, when you Comment on a post by scrolling down to "Comment on this post here...", I am notified of your response. But if you select Reply, I am NOT notified and may not be aware of your response.
Or was that your intention?

If coding is the problem, why not fix it? Who does coding for this site? Are they actually aware of the issue?

I don't have a problem with Avatars or posting using Firefox and I'm on Win10 FF 115.0 (64-bit).

Hmmm. I'm running Win 11 21H2. I just updated Firefox from 113.0.2 (64-bit) to 115.0.1 (64-bit), flushed all cache and cookies and rebooted, and still, in Firefox and in Chrome (v114.0.5735.199 64-bit), as above, when I'm logged in:
Curiously, when I'm logged out of the Forums and out of Xfinity, Avatars render correctly, and I can enter text into Reply and Comment text entry boxes (but cannot post the text because, ya know, I'm not logged in).
Edge, bless its memory-hoggin heart, continues to work more-or-less correctly. I'm at a loss . . .

Strangely, the problems that started for me last week seem to be fixed after several hours of being unable to login this afternoon. "Bad Gateway", "login.xfinity.com cannot be found", all my UserIDs "invalid". and other mysteries. But that has all cleared up, and I can once again in Firefox enter text in Reply and Comment boxes, profile pics are displaying correctly, and the "bell" Notification box is no longer leaking Forum member full names
Hurray for Comcast???

BruceW,
I still can’t post from laptop or desktop. What the heck? Why hasn’t this been fixed?

Well that lasted until a few minutes ago. Now Firefox is messed up again just like it was last week, Chrome too. Posting this with Edge, the only browser that is still working on Forum pages. Ugh!

A big outfit like Comcast with unlimited resources can’t provide a properly functioning forum for its customers? I don’t buy that. What’s going on here?

Greets,
I still can’t post from anything other than a cellphone. Will this ever be resolved?
I’m a 300 bucks a month customer and I would like an answer.
Please feel free to reply!

Greetings,
I'm posting this from my Win 10 desktop box with Firefox 115.0.3 and it works.
Thank you very much!
