Yahoo email migration optional

On Reddit there is post that says the migration to Yahoo email service is now optional.

Is this true?

If so, how does one accept this option?

After how many months has Comcast said migrate or die??? Looking at the Email FAQ on Comcast's site, it now seems that it's optional, but one way:

https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview

......

Can I continue accessing my comcast.net email on the Xfinity Email platform after I’ve accepted the Yahoo terms of service?
No. Once you accept Yahoo terms of service, Yahoo Mail will become your email provider, and you will only be able to access your comcast.net email via the Yahoo Mail platform.

Do I have to upgrade my comcast.net email account to Yahoo Mail?
No, this is an upgrade we are offering customers at no cost so they can access their email on a better platform with enhanced security, more features, and a mobile app for easy access on the go.

.....

Migrate if you want a plethora of ADs arriving in your inbox.

Thanks.

But, it does not say what happens if you don't switch.

Can you still access your email on Xfinity web mail and by using third party clients like Thunderbird or MS Office.

Says No if you switch though.

The thought does occur to me that they're ambiguity may mean that - no, you don't have to "upgrade."  But if you don't upgrade you'll need another new email provider which would also require a new email address, since Comcast's service is totally disappearing.

I have no idea if that is the case, but we definitely need clarification as to what does happen if you don't upgrade.

That is what their FAQ used to say. (Last month.)  But now that sentence has disappeared.   Clarification would be useful!

I posted this on https://forums.xfinity.com/conversations/email/yahoo-email-now-optional/696e8fbc70934d009178489d?commentId=696fb95418df686529528b69

OK.

Just got through with Chat.

At one point they said, "If you have a comcast.net email, you will need to switch to Yahoo Mail starting in June 2025."

Then after I got switched over to another person they said, "it's an option; however, I would suggest you stay with the Xfinity web services.'

Me:

So. Let me confirm this. You do not have to migrate to Yahoo. You can stay with Xfinity and not lose any web mail services. Is that correct?

Chat

Yes, you are totally correct."

I am still not convinced.

Still wish for an Xfinity Mod to chime in.
