Yahoo email now optional?

I have used a Comcast email address and the email service for too many more years than I can count.  It’s never been perfect, but has served my purposes, so I have been annoyed that I would have to go through the transition to Yahoo and all the predictable problems getting it set up to my liking, even though the actual address would not change.  So far, thankfully, I haven’t been “invited” to “upgrade.”  But it now appears the transition is not required, but only optional, based on the Comcast FAQ section on the transition: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview

Can anyone official please let me (us) know if this is really true, please? I would love to be able to continue as I always have.

I posted this same question earlier.

See

Yes, I would like an official response.

Posted a followup question on my post.

The thought does occur to me that they're ambiguity may mean that - no, you don't have to "upgrade."  But if you don't upgrade you'll need another new email provider which would also require a new email address, since Comcast's service is totally disappearing.

I have no idea if that is the case, but we definitely need clarification as to what does happen if you don't upgrade.

I called Comcast today and they confirmed the migration is optional.  Your services will continue "as-is" if you decide not to migrate your account.

I hope that's accurate. The socnd sentence is the important one.  I'd feel much more comfortable with it if I could see the specific statement: "Your services will continue 'as-is' if you decide not to migrate your account" in writing somewhere on some official Comcast platform or communication.

@Ge57u They do indicate the migration is optional here:  https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/yahoo-email-migration-overview

OK.

Just got through with Chat.

At one point they said, "If you have a comcast.net email, you will need to switch to Yahoo Mail starting in June 2025."

Then after I got switched over to another person they said, "it's an option; however, I would suggest you stay with the Xfinity web services.'

Me:

So. Let me confirm this. You do not have to migrate to Yahoo. You can stay with Xfinity and not lose any web mail services. Is that correct?

Chat

Yes, you are totally correct."

I am still not convinced.

Still wish for an Xfinity Mod to chime in.
