Xfinity comcast.net emails transition to Yahoo

Is there any way to tell when your email is set for this transition? Can we do this on our own prior to reciving the email notice?  I have had this emial for over 20 years and do not like the idea of giving it up and having to go through the process of setting up a new one for all my contact, billings, etc.

Thank you

Hey there, @bozmit, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your email account. There is nothing you need to do until we let you know that it’s time to complete the move.

You’ll keep the features you love most about Xfinity Mail when you make the move — including your current comcast.net email address, messages, folders, and contacts.

You'll be notified 30 days in advance to move your comcast.net email account(s) to Yahoo Mail. Let us know if you have any additional questions!

We know transitions can be tricky, and we’re here to make this one easier, user_9f8e4c. To move your Comcast.net email to Yahoo Mail, just accept Yahoo’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy when prompted. If you have multiple Comcast.net accounts, you’ll need to accept the terms for each one individually.

Tips for a smooth move:

Large Attachments: Emails with attachments over 25 MB won’t transfer. Download or delete them beforehand. Otherwise, they’ll be placed in a separate folder with a 30-day download window.
Mailbox Limits: Yahoo supports up to 4,100 folders and 10,000 contacts. If you exceed these:
Folders will be consolidated.
Contacts beyond 10,000 won’t be moved.
Need help? Reach out anytime. We’re here to support you!

So it cannot be done prior to notification from Xfinity/Comcast. Correct?

@bozmit  Correct, the terms to agree need to be presented to your account. We will email you once the Yahoo terms of service are available for you to accept. Current Xfinity customers may also receive an SMS reminder and be notified in the Xfinity app when the Yahoo terms of service are available. Once you accept the Yahoo terms of service, you will only have access to your email through Yahoo Mail.

@XfinityBennyWill my email attachments move to Yahoo Mail?
Yes, most email attachments will be moved to Yahoo Mail. However, email messages with attachments totaling more than 25 MB will not be moved.

If I am reading this correctly, thats 25MB per individual email and not 25MB per account?

I am not aware that any emails have gone out to customers yet.  I wouldn't worry too much at this point.

@user_cljr8 Thanks for adding to the thread. Xfinity customers may also receive an SMS reminder and be notified in the Xfinity app when the Yahoo terms of service are available. Once the Yahoo terms of service are made available to you, you will have 120 days to accept them and move to the Yahoo Mail platform. (However, if you do not accept them within the first 30 days, you will lose access to your email until you accept them and complete your move to Yahoo Mail.) Check the Xfinity App for the notification to accept the Yahoo terms of service.

Email is not a line item on your bill, so you are not paying for it; email is something Comcast provided free of charge.  So, no, services will not be discounted.  Sorry.

Hi there @68Chevelle396.  As we prepare to sunset the Xfinity Email platform, we’ve chosen to partner with Yahoo Mail to provide active Comcast.net email users continued access to their email accounts and the ability to keep their current email address along with an improved email experience.

We believe Yahoo Mail provides the ultimate modern email platform, with AI-driven tools to streamline your inbox management, advanced email protection, smart and intuitive calendar features, and a mobile app so you can stay connected on the go.

This move does not impact any paid services or other customer relationships existing customers may have with Xfinity or Comcast; Xfinity services will continue to remain subject to Comcast terms of service and privacy policy applicable to those services.

If you're using an email client like Outlook, Thunderbird, Apple Mail, etc., when you see what looks like an official email, go to the webmail site and see if that particular email has the official Xfinity logo.

Will Comcast email be migrated to the “free” Yahoo email, or Yahoo Plus email (ad free, block unwanted sender domains, hide deal summaries, etc) that costs $5 per month?  If migrates to Yahoo Plus, will it be free to Comcast users?

It will be migrated to the "free" Yahoo email [with ads].  You're welcome to upgrade yourself, but you will be paying for it.

@user_zkjw9g The email would migrate to the free version of their service not Yahoo+. The change mostly just changes them to be the main company that will offer support if you have issues with the email.

We have 3 email addresses with comcast.net.  if we do the Yahoo Plus upgrade, can we keep all those addresses for the $5/month fee, or would we have to pay $5 month for each one?  Also: this means our email retains the comcast.net domain, but is no longer tied to comcast/xfinity at all, correct?

Although I don't know for sure, you will probably have to pay $5 for each email address.  And yes, you will keep your @comcast.net address, but it is no longer tied to Comcast/Xfinity.

I have not seen a notification that my comcast.net address has been moved to Yahoo but I also no longer have online access to it on Comcast/Xfinity... Did I miss the notification? Where was it sent? Given the dozens of spammy fake "Xfin1ty" customer service emails I get every month, it is possible I deleted a legit one...

You probably haven't been notified yet.

I suggest, if you aren't already, checking your email on the website.  That way, you won't miss that email.  And, you'll be able to tell if the email is legit by the verified logo.

Most likely it won't matter because your comcast.net isn't changing to yahoo.com.

Good morning! Thank you so much for reaching out on our Xfinity Forums. I hope you are having a great week so far!

I had the same concern with my email address since I have the same one for yahoo as I do with Comcast, but as @Again shared the email domain comcast.net will not be changing, so we will still be able to keep our email addresses as they are now, they will simply be housed and supported through yahoo. I hope this helps any limit and remove any concerns you may have with the transition. Please know we are here to help out with anything you may need to help things go smoothly.

@Again Thank you for your guidance and engagement! I hope you have a great week!

Considering I seem to have started a snowball effect with my original question.  A word of warning, I noticed my husband's email has been receiving phishing email from non-Xfintiy emails trying to get him to move forward with the transition.  Now that is has shown up in the news, the hackers are working at scamming all of us.  The lack of the verified email logo and spelling errors are the big give away. Please be vigilant.  Xfinity needs to move this to priority and get it rolling so its customers are not scammed.  Not everyone is tech savvy to pick up on false emails.  https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/comcast-verified-email

I have 7 comcast.net emails through 2 comcast accounts in different CO cities. I got a an Xfinity Email warning me that only 2 emails are to be converted? Will I get other emails for the remaining 5 emails?

Good day Brashrube! If you have 7 Comcast.net email accounts across 2 Comcast accounts, you will need to accept the Yahoo terms of service for each account you wish to move as part of the upcoming transition, as each mailbox is treated separately. If you received a warning that only 2 emails are to be converted, it may indicate that only those specific accounts are eligible for the transition at this time. Ensure you check for any notifications regarding the availability of the Yahoo terms for your other accounts.
