Outlook Problems with comcast.net email address

All of a sudden I can't get email using Outlook.  I can use Webmail, and it's working on my phone.  This is O365, everything is fully patched and non-comcast.net emails work.  I've tried using my desktop at home, and a laptop elsewhere; same problem on both machines.  Deleted Outlook Profile and tried to re-add a new profile, using the correct imap.comcast.net manual settings.  When I use SSL/TLS it immediately returns a credentials error; when I use STARTTLS it hangs for a while before erroring out.  In the beginning I was receiving an error "The name cannot be matched to a name in the address list" trying to setup the account in Outlook but I'm not getting that anymore.  I've tried checking/unchecking the "Allow unsecure applications" option (currently checked to allow) and disabling 2-factor authentication (currently off but I'd like to re-enable as soon as I get past this).

This has to be related to the specific account/email address but I can't figure out how to fix it .... assistance appreciated.

Hi there and welcome to Comcast @user_uyizbq. I am sorry to hear that you have not been able to get your email to work on your outlook. Did you recently changed your password to your Xfinity email?

@XfinityRoberto I am having a similar problem.  I did change my email PW.  Got all my devices to work except Outlook on my PC computer.  I am using

Microsoft® Outlook® 2021 MSO (Version 2604 Build 16.0.19929.20172) 64-bit.  The online advice was to remove the account from outlook and then add it back in.  Now when I do that, the smtp will not connect and it keeps asking for the password.  Or it says it cannot find my name in the addresses.  Any help?

Same problem 05.21.26.  I do not know if it's a Microsoft issue or a comcast.net Xfinity issue with Office 365 Outlook.  No change in password or anything else.  Very frustrating.

Sometimes time is indeed the best healer, @user_wgk01. Did your contacts finally load up via outlook?

@XfinityJanelle It seems to have sorted itself out.  I lost some contact information since I hadn’t backed it up recently.  Will have to reenter it.

That evening I decided to go at it again, and everything worked magically ... Autodiscover populated the account settings, and mail flowed in.  Must have been a Comcast glitch ... last time I had this problem was when I was in Florida--Outlook refused to work for the entire week, so I used webmail.  When I returned to Maryland everything was fine.

Awesome! I am happy to hear that Outlook is working again for you. It could have been a glitch on either part. I did take a look at our reported issues board we have and nothing was reported with issue with our email service. Is there anything else we can help you out with today @user_uyizbq?

Yes - thankfully.  But I have no idea what the problem was (Xfinity or Office 365) or do I know if it will come back or not.  Perhaps the change to the Yahoo servers for Email will prevent this in the future?

@user_o3w56x Great to hear it is now working for you. It may have been a glitch in one or the other. Yahoo would be the support for that, we would not be able to say whether or not it would happen.
