Excessive time delays for receiving emails

Xfinity email takes way too long to receive emails. It is impossible to access any of my financial/bank/credit card accounts that require the sending of access codes that have 10-15 minute timers. They always time out. I have had customer service reps at my credit cards and bank tell me that this is a frequent problem with many of their customers who have Xfinity/Comcast.  Sometimes it takes almost a day to receive an email. If I send a picture from my phone to my email, some never arrive at all and some take DAYS. I have already done all of the troubleshooting: I have already restarted the modem, I do not have a 3rd party email carrier, there is no internet connectivity problem, all of the email settings are correct, and it is not the sender (because it even happens to ME as the sender, on Xfinity), not a configuration problem, and I'm not using a VPN. It's not all the time; it's very unpredictable and irregular.

Hi @redhummingbird1. Thank you for visiting our Xfinity Forums Community support page. We can most certainly help attempt troubleshooting your Xfinity Email delivery issues. Are you using an application/program to receive your emails or are you logging on to the Xfinity Email web portal to access your emails?

With using the Xfinity web portal to access your emails, could you please create a new email and send it to yourself and let us know how long it takes to get delivered @redhummingbird1

That only takes a few minutes from my own pc to myself on pc, but that is not the issue I reported.

The issue is receiving on the pc, from the phone messaging app., and from others.

From my phone app, takes over a day, and sometimes not received at all.

From others, like credit cards, banks, or anywhere where I have 2 factor authentication that needs me to receive a code, takes several hours to overnight/next day.

I just sent myself a message at 1:55p. I waited until 2:25p before sending this message.

The message I sent is still not received in my inbox (yes I refreshed the screen), so has been 1/2 hour now and not received.

I'll check back to this post again to let you know what time it arrives.

Thank you for the update, redhummingbird1! That was a very long time to wait for the email! Do you see the emails sitting in your inbox at the Xfinity email website for a long time before they come through to the app or are those also delayed?

I am trying to reset a forgotten password.  The link to do so has been sent to my comcast email account at least three times in the last hour.  None have come through to my inbox.  I am on the webpage for my comcast email account, and also on my iPhone email app.  The link is timing out.  Please advise.

Are you still having the issue with a delay? Also, can you please share what kind of device you are using, and any troubleshooting you have already tried?

You have to go to the upper right gear box click it then click email settings then basic settings and at the bottom it says refresh interval you need to change it to 5 minutes and while you are there make sure your time zone is correct

Are we fixing this or what because it is ridiculous.

I have this problem as well, though only intermittently. Delay this morning was over an hour. Seriously, this should not be happening.

I think more people have this problem but have not run into the same issue as the OP.

I have run into this so many times and I switch things over to my Gmail to bypass it when I can. Apparently we are just going to ignore it and not fix there issue.

I am also experiencing severe delays with my comcast.net email account.  My internet is functioning perfectly fine.  My gmail accounts are working as they should.  I have tried on my desktop PC, laptop and 3 different phones.  I sent an email from my gmail account to my comcast.net account to see how long of a delay and it took 53 minutes.

The only upside is that I'm glad to see I am not the only one experiencing this, as it tells me it is 100% something wrong on Xfinity's end.  Hopefully they can fix it soon.

Edit #1: Also, I'm not sure if this helps, but I also pinged imap.comcast.net, pop.comcast.net and smtp.comcast.net both from Powershell (Admin) on my PC and from a 3rd-party website and they all had 100% packet loss (Request timed out.) -- Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 0, Lost = 4 (100% loss)

And I just received another test email from my gmail account while writing this and it was a 13 minute, 15 second delay.  So the amount of time delay is sporadic at best.

Edit #2 - Update (Fixed): It has been 6 hours since my last edit.  Good news is it seems that everything has been resolved on Xfinity's end.  I am able to send/receive emails normally from my comcast.net address again.  Hopefully this is a one time thing and it doesn't happen again, as it was very frustrating.  I hope everyone else's comcast.net email accounts are functioning normally now too.

@user_3p7f3k Let me preface my reply with this first: I am not a customer service representative or in any way affiliated with Xfinity or these forums.  I'm just a regular, paying customer.

Now, I honestly think the issue with emails that are still being delayed for hours, means it's a backend queuing/delivery issue on Comcast’s mail platform (something only they can see and fix).  There is really nothing we can do except hope that an Xfinity employee sees these posts and reports them to their proper channels to get this fixed ASAP.

Edit (Fixed): <See my previous post>
