COMCAST E-MAIL SERVER DOWN - ALL 2024 AND HALF OF 2023 EMAILS DISAPPEARED

When I looked at my phone this morning it showed 20+ emails. A half hour later when I went to read my e-mail - they were all gone.  I checked several other folders and ALL EMAILS FROM 2024 PLUS EMAILS GOING BACK TO JUNE of 2023 are GONE!!!!  I looked online and the Comcast e-mail server is down but I don't understand why it would take half of my already read (and stored in folders) emails.  Something similar happened several years ago and it took MANY phone calls and a couple of weeks to get some of my folders back - not even all.  I hesitate to even call Comcast since I don't think the regular support people will have any idea what to do.  I'm hoping a Comcast person reads this and can connect me with someone who can help me get my emails back.  Many of them are extremely important and need to be kept.  I thank anyone who can offer any help

I had a session with an Xfinity support specialist. Their solution is to use the xfinity webmail. The will not support any 3rd party apps. They would not even help me with the IMAP mail on my smartphone as they say that is not supported. So their solution is to just change to using their webmail client . There is obviously a back end problem they they wont admit to or willing to fix..

As stated @DavidS0, we greatly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.  We are unable to troubleshoot a 3rd party app that is not Xfinity owned.  That would need to be completed by that specific vendor that you are utilizing to access your Xfinity email.  We can see if there is any specific back end troubleshooting that can be completed but in all likelihood, you may need to reach out to that vendor's tech apport for specific troubleshooting for the app you are using.

Understood, but I ma not trying to setup a 3rd party app for the first time. I have been using Outlook and imap on my android phone for years. How is it that it just stopped working and the solution is to use the web version now? That does not provide the robust mail management features like spam filtering and message movement to specific folders automatically.

We understand that as well @DavidS0.  However, what you are explaining, is classified as a 3rd party app issue.  Since Outlook and imap are not Xfinity owned apps we are unable to troubleshoot them directly.  You may want to try reaching out to them for a solution to this issue.  It could very well be something simple as an app or system update is required on the device.

I use the Comcast mail interface and I am still missing a month of emails. They obviously lost them. Why don't they just say so?

I have just lost all inbox, sent and trash emails back to 12/2023 as well as any new folders i set up since then.  Can you please send a link to how i communicate this wtih comcast?  i have just spent an hour trying to navigate how to send an email to support per your suggestion above.  I only use the comcast email through xfinity.com and not through a third party.

no emails since 1/2/2024.  Can't log into Comcast/Xfinity account - "not valid" - but information is correct.  Please help.

I have been using Outlook email client for my domain with XFinity for years with no difficulty.  I really do not want to have to use their online email, which is far more cumbersome and less full-featured than Outlook.   Everyone affected just wants XFinity to get its email server functioning again - when will this happen?

Sorry, but email systems were never designed to be long-term storage for information.  You need to move any important emailed information out to a hard drive (or a hard copy, etc.) if you want to save it reliably.  Nobody ever says that you can leave an email in a folder forever.

I know that people get so many emails that they tend to leave them "in place", but it's never been a good idea - even if you get away with it for a long time.

As a tech support guy, I have explained this to people for years, but most people just ignore this fact (like my wife) and then are upset when an email folder is emptied, lost, etc.

Finally, remember that email systems (all of them) are under constant cyberattack.  This is another reason that you don't leave anything important on an email server.

Save or be sorry!

I'm a Comcast user with the same email address since the early 90's - zero emails in my Inbox, believe it or not...

Ten days now that Xfinity's email server for IMAP and POP email has been down.  Anyone know the cost to use the business email server for IMAP/POP email?

As of Saturday, 4/20/24, I am unable to receive any Comcast.net emails on my iPhone, desktop, or laptop. Keeps telling me there is an authentication error. What is going on?

Greetings, @user_x1qhu5! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum. I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the email server, but you have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

The issue you reported sounds a little different from the other issues in this post, but it still seems frustrating. Can you tell me a little more about what's happening? Are you getting an error when trying to send or read email during this time period? Does it always go back to normal after 30 minutes to 3 hours? Is the same thing happening on the Xfinity webmail client (https://connect.xfinity.com/email) when the server is down, or does it just impact remote apps?

comcast email is not working today June 5, 2024, I have not been able to get email thru Outlook or when I log into Xfinity website. On the Xfinity website I lost all of my email accounts and I can't get them to come back even when adding the account & email information.

user_n35ysg I'm sorry to hear you are experiencing a similar issue. Where does it say the Comcast email is unavailable? On the website itself? Or if you try to send an email?

Calling xfinity?  Ha--good luck.  Go into an xfinity store and see if they can get your emails back for you.  They may tell you comcast is doing away w emails, but I don't think so.  They still give out comcast addresses to new customers.
