wifi calling 5Ghz not working but 2.4Ghz is

My wife and I use xfinitymobile with iPhone SE gen3 phones.  We have just moved to our summer cottage where cell phone coverage is pretty bad.  Last year our router was a Netgear and this year I upgraded to a new TPLink router.  Symptom is the same for both.  If the iPhone is connected to wifi at 2.4Ghz, then almost immediately the connection in the upper left changes to XM Wi-Fi.  However, if the iPhone connects to wifi at 5Ghz, then there is no switch to XM WiFi,  It remains Xfinity Mobile. But, if I go into Airplane Mode to disable cell service, but then enable wifi, it will change from no service to XM WiFi.  As soon I disable Airplane Mode, it returns to Xfinity Mobile.

Is this a bug in the iPhone?  I have temporarily dropped the 5G wifi ssid from both phones (Forget This Network), so the phones will only connect at 2.4Ghz and automatically switch to wifi calling when we are in our cottage.

Hi there, @user_1g3fru! Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Community Forum. From what I gather, 5GHZ WiFi calling should work on the iPhone SE Gen 3. Are there any issues with any other internet features on this device like browsing or email for example when using 5ghz wifi on this device, or just WiFi calling?

No. And as I indicated, it is the "automatic" switch to XM WiFi at 5G that is the problem.  Again, if I enable Airplane Mode to turn off cell and wifi and then enable wifi using the 5G SSID, XM Wifi will pop up and I can make or receive calls.  Yesterday afternoon.  I was at a neighbors house who has Comcast Internet (but different router) and had the same symptom.  We tried it with the neighbors iPhone (not an SE) after changings the setting in her phone to allow wifi calling and it also had the same symptom - automatic switching to XM Wifi using a 2.4G SSID, but not using a 5G SSID.

Thanks for confirming those details, as that is helpful for troubleshooting. I would like to do some more troubleshooting on our end.
