why does the IMAP account password pop up each time after I have already updated my email

Last night when I opened my email a box popped up for me to log in to IMap account. I don't even know what that means.

I called comcast today and a technician helped me but my email is not right and the box is still popping up. WHAT IS THIS

3 pages of essentially the same problems reported, with tech reps making the same suggestions and not 1 person has said "thank you, that worked!"  Please, techs, stop giving the same suggestions.  They are NOT working for anyone.  Something changed on YOUR end, not ours.

Has anyone found a fix. I have 5 email accounts every time a touch an email I get the imap pop up for all 5 accounts  so that’s about 100 times a day. This is crazy!

the only two fixes I have found are to 1. disconnect from wifi completely and just use data. This doesn’t work most of the time tho, and the problem is back within hours. 2. The more reliable fix for me has been to delete the account from my phone, change the password, and then re add the account to my phone. It’s a hassle, but it fixes the problem for a few months at least.

I’m not finding any information in the messages below that tells me how to fix my email on my iPhone. I keep getting the popup for my imap password. I tried copying the password on my settings, but that doesn’t work. How do I know what the IMAP password is?

Are you putting in the correct password for your email? @user_fc64k1

I am having the same issue. It was just my iPad but now it’s my iPhone also. The iPhone was fine an hour ago. No problem when I go directly to my Xfinity email.

I posted earlier in this forum months ago. Checked all the settings and passwords and everything else that was given as an option. Eventually I deleted the email account from my phone, changed the password, and then rewarded which fixed it up until this point. Now it’s happening again. 8AM email was fine 9AM IMAP password error. It’s beyond frustrating that people have been going through this for over a year and it still can’t be figured out. Just be honest. If Comcast emails will no longer be compatible with the iPhone email app just say that. Stop making people go in circles with no real resolution.

Hi user_h2c5d9! Thanks for taking the time to reach back out on our Xfinity Forum with this update. I am sorry to hear this is occurring again on your end. We definitely want to help. Just to confirm and for troubleshooting purposes, are you able to successfully access/view your Xfinity email through the Xfinity web portal [connect.xfinity.com]?

Xfinity offered this "solution"; let us know if it worked for you

Step 1: Check that your email works online

Go to https://connect.xfinity.com and sign in using your full Xfinity email address and password.
If your email works on the website, that confirms the mailbox itself is active and working correctly.

Step 2: Remove the email account from your iPhone or iPad

On each device, do the following:
Open Settings
Tap Mail
Tap Accounts
Tap your Comcast or Xfinity email account
Tap Delete Account, and confirm

Step 3: Add the email account back to the device

Open Settings
Tap Mail
Tap Accounts
Tap Add Account
Tap Other
Tap Add Mail Account

Enter the following exactly:
Email: your full Xfinity email address
Username: your full Xfinity email address
Password: your Xfinity ID password

Step 4: Use these server settings

Incoming mail server
imap.comcast.net
Port 993
SSL turned on

Outgoing mail server
smtp.comcast.net
Port 587
SSL turned on
Authentication turned on

Step 5: Check Xfinity security settings if it still fails

Sign in at https://customer.xfinity.com and complete any security prompts or third-party app access requests shown on the account.

Important note about iOS devices

If your email works on the Xfinity website but still does not work on your iPhone or iPad after following these steps, the issue is likely related to the Apple Mail app or the iOS version on the device. In that case, Apple Support would be the best next step to review device or operating system-related behavior.

You can also find the official Xfinity Apple Mail setup instructions here:
https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/configure-apple-mail-with-comcast-email

If you’d like, let us know whether email works on the website and which iOS version you’re using, and we can help guide you further.

I’m going crazy every single day with this same [Edited: "Profanity"] thing!  I just want my usual way to do my email!  I have no idea what an IMap account is 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m getting the imap pop up on my apple phone. I haven’t changed by password but asks for password and when I put it in it’s saying the password is incorrect. I’ve read what others were asked to do. I’ve removed the comcast from my mail app on my iPhone and still can’t get it to accept my password. Says my password or user name isn’t correct. I’ve even changed password and still can’t get it to accept.
