“Free” ipad scam
We were scammed into purchacing an iPad. We were told it was an incentive/gift fir getting Comcast internet. Only to realize too late that we were being charged about $45/month for installments on the iPad and an xfinity mobile line attached to the ipad. I was on the phone for hours yestsrday being told there was nothing they could do and that I consented to this. I asked for proof of my consent (a signed contract or phone call recording) and was told they do not have these. I was told a supervisor would call me back in 1-2 hours. I asked for a direct line to call back if I did not hear from a supervisor and was told “they will 100% call you back”. It is the next day and still no call. [Edited: "Solicitation"].

Ok. So, I came accros this thread because I was also offered the same thing. So many people have said that this is a scam, however, the offer does from Xfinity chat. So for all of you who accepted the offer, did you actually get the promised iPad or not? the only thing stopping me from this is them requiring my SSN and birthday in a separate link but overall, the deal seems really good. Maybe too good? However, if you did get your product, please let me know. Thanks.

literally just happened to me as well, you need to check your incentive structure for offshore agents or you're gonna get into a wells fargo situation where people are making fake accounts for users to push numbers

I was offered this deal in-store!!!! I’m about to go request a refund and cancel my service because they are overcharging people for these iPads and my bill does not reflect the offer they even said…. Found the iPad I want on Amazon for nearly $200 less than the Xfinity offer I was given…

I recently was a victim of the same offer. I had given out my SSN and Birth Date hoping to get a "Free" iPad, but I was later told they would charge me 136 dollars in fees and tax. I declined the offer but I am worried about what these scammers will do with my information. How are these types of scams allowed within your live chat?

Okay this also just happened to me. I have repeatedly told him "no thank you, I no longer want this" once I realized what was going on but he keeps insisting an iPad is coming and my bill will change.

It’s July 26, 2024 and yes, this scam is still going on. Had it happened to me today. Very high pressure technique used to try to get me to consent to an iPad (10th generation) and in total my bill would reduce by $20. I just kept asking to see this all in writing so that I could read the fine print myself before I move on it. All they kept saying was “I’ll provide you a link so that you can consent”. I kept saying that I’m not going to consent to a damn thing without reading it. He was offering to upgrade me to 800 mbps which is actually a downgrade for us because we actually get 1000 mbps right now and of course they didn’t mention, at any time, that I would have to pay for a mobile service for this iPad. When I wouldn’t consent to the iPad and they said they could lower my bill by $16 just for normal service. I said “why don’t you just lower peoples bills then instead of overcharging”? He then asked me again if I would like to lower my bill. At this point, I said I wasn’t interested in anything he had to say, and I was ending the chat. Which I did immediately and then quickly downloaded the transcript. And to think this all began with me getting an email that I thought was a scam from Xfinity….and I never did get clarification on that. Because at first he said “oh that was sent to you in error”. And then he turned around and said “it’s best not to click on any links”. Well, damn, if it came from Xfinity, I would think it would be safe to click on it, right? These people are the worst. I don’t believe anything they say, I’m not accepting any offers, they’re all full of [Edited: "Language"].

Pretty sure this just happened to me. The live chat agent offered me a free iPad 10th gen with no additional costs or mobile account...but while I was waiting for the link to input my SSN and DOB I kept getting text messages with verification codes as if someone was trying to log into my account. I almost went for it but I'm thankful that I found this forum. The verification codes and the request of SSN/DOB does not sit right with me.
Update: I was locked out of my account after I ended the chat. I had to turn off two-factor authentication to get into my account. Immediately changing my password.

We fell for the same offer free iPad. It was not free We are two weeks into trying to figure out how to return it Now they say they can’t send me a label because nothing will go through my email They’re not having a problem sending my bill or any other information through my email This is looking like a large complicit scam that Xfinity is propagating

I just got a similar deal. My current plan was $65 a month, but this deal was offered so I would get $55 a month plus the iPad with this pricing for 2 years. I was told the price would be $55 for the first year and $95 for the 2nd year, but I could just ask them to renew the promotional price of $55 in the 2nd year. (I have a feeling that part will be a hassle). I just received the ipad, is this something I should be worried about and should return the ipad?

Entered a chat today about my bill and was offered the free iPad to lower my internet to $60/month. Was told probably 15 times that there were no additional fees and also that we weren’t opening a mobile plan, but mentioned the iPad wasn’t free. The rep kept circling back to the mobile lines which would be $40/month that I’ve seen other commenters mention. They would need the SSN and birthdate to open a mobile line, to put the iPad on. You would pay the addition fees ($40) for the mobile data for 24 months. IN ADDITION to the $60/month for internet. Honestly still better than most the prices they can offer, so who knows. We called in to talk to an agent and they said they don’t have that deal available yet and told me that the chat people can offer different deals than the call center can. [Edited: "Language"]? So it sounds like just the chat people are pushing mobile lines on people unknowingly. I’ve attached some of the transcripts here.

Reading through the comments here, correct me if I'm wrong:
-Xfinity has confirmed that the iPad offer IS a valid offer from Xfinity chat
-Xfinity has confirmed that the last four numbers of your SSN are needed to open a mobile account
-Customers report that agents use deceptive language like "no additional cost," "all included," "no strings attached," "total bill won't change"
-Customers report to feeling misled and lied to because there ARE hidden charges that are not properly disclosed
-Customers report to feeling misled and lied to because it is not properly disclosed that they are consenting to opening a new mobile plan
-Customers report that the agents are persistent, continuing to explain the offer even after the customer says they are not interested
My question: Is Xfinity investigating this or doing anything to stop the deceptive tactics?
Thanks for your time.

Same thing happened to me last week. I was told the iPad was part of the Internet package I was upgrading to. Come to find out that they never changed my Internet package and on top of that, I was going to be charged almost $40/month for the iPad and a mobile line I never signed up for. Luckily I was able to speak to someone at Xfinity that wasn't a con artist. I was able to print a return slip and send the iPad back for a full refund. Xfinity is constantly trying to rip me off

Mohith was my agents name and just offered me the same deal85/month plus new iPad. Something was fishy when the xfinity deal was quoted a 100$. I stopped once my SSN was required to obtain an iPad.
