Big Ten Network Blackouts

As a Xfinity subscriber with the Big Ten Network, I am very disappointed to learn that I will not be able to watch the Ducks, Huskies, Bruins or Trojans on the Big Ten Network in my area. This is so disappointing and ridiculous. Please do better and fix this prior to this Saturday, Aug 31st.

We already have Big 10 network subscription added to our Xfinity programs, and now we are told we cannot see Oregon games?   So does that mean that Xfinity and Big 10 are liable for a lawsuit?

@XfinityAngie You did not answer the question.  You sympathized, but did not answer the question about paying for a product and not getting the services as promised.

Hello @user_v12xfl  Some games exclusive to Big 10 Network for several college teams are not available through Xfinity or Comcast Business at this time.

Xfinity simply said does not have the rights to air games involving University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), University of Oregon (UO), University of Washington, and University of Southern California (USC).

It's possible to watch most of the affected games on other channels, networks, or streaming platforms.

Our apologies for any frustration this may have case anyone. I know it's an inconvenience as you're unable to watch the games you really want to see.

YouTube TV has Big Ten Network and you can try it for free.  Instead of Comcast taking our money for a subscription to the channel and then making a bunch of excuses of why they cannot show the games.  [Edited: "Solicitation"].

I know these [Edited: "Inflammatory"] will delete this post just like the one on Friday night, but I don't care.

Hi @Stump99  Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. We greatly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience regarding the Big Ten network. I would be more than happy to offer my assistance looking into this further for you.

We do not have any updates on the broadcast schedule yet. The Big Ten Network is subject to market availability and changes will be communicated through Xfinity bill statement messages. I would keep an eye on the guide and check if there is a channel that is playing the games. This is the most up-to-date information we have at this time.

The concern is not "accessibility / disability" help related............................. Topic moved here to the proper help section, and for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Channel 726, Big Ten Network, is on our lineup. We are paying for it. Why are the Oregon Duck games not shown on it? If we are paying for a channel, but not getting it, then we are owed a refund.

The Seattle Times reported and confirmed this story and noted that Direct TV will be carrying the games. I in the Seattle area and had to pay for the Big Ten Network for years so I could watch Illinois football and basketball. We received the Pac 12 Network for free, while my midwestern friends received the Big Ten Network for free (no blackouts). I continue to pay for Big Ten but with UW now in the Big Ten, I am blacked out from receiving UW games, even though I am paying for the network. Absolute rubbish and a bit of flim flam from Comcast to take my money and not deliver. I have been a customer since Jan 1989, starting to reconsider.

Hey there, Cold2, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding The Big 10 Network. We truly appreciate you being a longtime Xfinity customer! At this time, we do not currently have the rights to games for the following teams,

  • University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
  • University of Oregon (U of O)
  • University of Washington (UW)
  • University of Southern California (USC)

We apologize for this inconvenience. Most of the games for these universities may be available on other channels, networks, or streaming platforms. You can say the name of the school in your remote to see the viewing options available.

Easy to say they may be available, the University of Washington is not on the Big Ten Network today for us and the rest of the West Coast as of this writing and that is the only network carrying the game. I subscribe and pay for the Big Ten Network via Comcast and Comcast is not airing even though it is the only game on that channel at 8 PM PST tonight. If it is not free for those not paying for the Big Ten Network, I would somewhat understand but I am paying for it and not receiving it, so Comcast is not delivering for services paid.

Comcast/xfinity and customer service are complete polar opposites.  As soon as my contract is up I am out for good.

Rather than complaining here your best bet is to call into Comcast and [politely] complain.  The more people that call in the better.

I did that but the Customer Service person was in a call center [Edited: "Inflammatory"] who was completely clueless about what I was talking about. He finally told me to contact Comcast via abuse@comcast.com but I have not heard back after five days.

Cold2 Those requests go to our CSA team. Have your tried calling that team directly a 1 (888) 565-4329 to see if they can be of more direct assistance?

@user_dyrrvc I will second your feelings in the "Edited" comments that I'm sure you made! The absolutely lame suggestion to check for the games on other channels, networks or streaming platforms is astonishing.

This is stunning that these games are blacked out. FIX this. Big reason for us to finally find a different provider. Really disappointing

We’d regret seeing you go.

As a provider, we have agreements with a variety of programmers and local networks that allow us to televise their content. When an agreement with a programmer ends, it sometimes means that programmer’s content can no longer be offered on our platforms. We do not have the rights, currently, to broadcast games airing on Big 10 Network for the following teams:

• University of California Los Angeles (UCLA)
• University of Oregon (U of O)
• University of Washington (UW)
• University of Southern California (USC)

For more information on how it works, we have this dedicated link here:

[Edited: Inflammatory.  Comcast wants more money to show the games in the four new Big Ten markets.

I cannot wait until my contract is up as I will be cancelling all services and moving over to Astound.

As a 40yr plus Comcast customer, I was hugely disappointed to find out they were going to black out games for my beloved University of Washington Huskies for their inaugural season of the Big 10. THAT'S TERRIBLE!! Seems like once again you're more concerned about making money than caring about your customers.

All week I was looking forward to watching the exciting University of Minnesota football team play a home game against USC. My channel guide said the game would be on channel 855 (Big Ten network) starting at 7:30 pm. However, when I tuned to channel 855 the Big Ten network was showing a series of interviews with basketball and soccer players.

After spending an hour chatting online and then calling, I was informed that "Comcast doesn't have the rights to show USC, UCLA, Oregon, or Washington. Well, Comcast needs to realize that these four teams are now in the Big Ten conference! Also, Minnesota has been a Big Ten member forever so why should they be affected? This ridiculous issue (caused my Comcast's greed, probably) should only affect Big Ten network viewers when those teams play each other.

Anyway, this horrible customer service and lack of communication is typical for Comcast. Comcast is losing customers every hour, and things like this are the reason. They say they care about "their loyal customers", but they definitely DO NOT! I'm locked into a contract, [Edited: "Solicitation"].
