Assigning devices to Pod vs Gateway

It appears that my devices are randomly assigned either to the main gateway or my pod. Is there a way to assign specific devices to one or the other?
I’m in a long, narrow apartment with the gateway near the front and a pod in the back. I’m having issues with my Pod, and I can’t even connect to internet even when I sit near the main gateway bc the device is stuck trying to connect to the Pod

Hey there, @user_al63fq, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your xFi Pod. Once devices join your home WiFi network, they will automatically connect to the best WiFi access point, whether that is your gateway or Pods. Have you tried moving the Pod at all to see if that helps with the connection issues?

Yes, I’ve moved my pod several times.  I’ve also unplugged it so that my laptop won’t try to connect to it, but that didn’t work. I’ve also reset the Gateway, which resulted in my

other laptop connecting to the Pod. Interestingly, when the first laptop actually does connect to the Pod, the connection lasts for 10 to 15 minutes.

Thank you so much for those details! Have you tried removing the Pod completely? How is the connection without the Pod connected?

Yes I tried that by unplugging the Pod like I mentioned. Also, after resetting everything, my laptop and my TV are appearing under ‘Devices not detected’ (so not appearing in either of the lists of ‘Connected devices’ under the gateway or Pod

I am having the same issue. I already contacted Xfinity and it seems like they weren't understanding what I was trying to tell them. I recently added a xFi pod to our Gateway system and now my laptop is automatically connecting to the xFi pod which is 20-25 feet away (6-8 walls away) vs. the xFi Gateway which is 4-6 feet away (no walls in between). I simply asked if I can bind devices manually to either the Gateway or Pod and at first they said yes but could not point me into the right direction. Then they were telling me to disconnect from the WiFi on my computer and to connect to the Gateway only not the Pod. I told them I only have 1 access point which is the Gateway and then they were telling me to rename the pod as if it was a Access Point when 1. it's purpose is just to be a WiFi extender and 2. it shares the same SSID as the Gateway since it is a mesh system. I then asked if I could rename the Pod's SSID which seemed impossible and the representative said it was not possible and I also asked if I could just turn the pod into a Access Point to work only via Ethernet but looks like it's not possible. So after about an hour and half of going back and forth I got no answer on how to simply bind devices to either the Gateway or Pod. The issue for me is I am paying for 800mbps and the pod drastically drops it to 150-250mbps. Which I understand the pod only supports up to 500mbps but I find that not being able to bind devices through the Xfinity app or Admin Dashboard (10.0.0.1) a bit ridiculous. The representative then told me that a technician must come to my house to fix this issue which I don't think he will be able too although the technician would probably have a better understanding of the issue then the representative.

I'd really like to know if this is possible if not I feel like I wasted $120 on the pod.

Having the same issue.

In my office, my phone is connected to the nearby Pod, and gets excellent connection. And my laptop (same location) connects to the Gateway and gets crappy signal.

Visibly there is a bug in the "choose the best wifi connection" feature and there seems to be no way forcing the assignment. Really disappointing.
