WGAL

Why is Comcast dropping WGAL channel 8 Lancaster, and the Philly station. Seems like you don't get it. In Pottsville, PA, our market is more to the South than up North.

WBRE and WYOU are owned by the same company, and broadcast the exact same nightly news, and their newscasters are subpar. From the sports end, they are more interested in the Rail Riders, and the Pittsburg Penguins and the Yankees. Our market in Pottsville, is more interested in the Phillies, the Reading Fightin's, Hershey Bears.

Most everyone goes South to shop rather than trug up north to Wilkes Barre. If you look at the coverage area, we should be in the southern tier.

If you drop WGAL, I'll be negotiating a new contract. Do your marketing and see what's good for the communities that is serviced by Comcasts.

Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us. WGAL-TV (NBC) and WHP-TV (CBS) are designated to serve the Harrisburg-Lebanon-Lancaster-York television market. WGAL-TV (NBC) and WHP-TV (CBS) will no longer be available in high-definition, but will continue to be available in standard-definition format on channels 1196 and 1195 respectively. Customers can search for their other favorite shows in their channel lineup using their Xfinity voice remote or on Xfinity TV Local Channel Line-up.

@XfinityAirelle

Well we never got WGAL or WHP in  hi def, only in SD. To add to your response we do not get stations 1196 or 1195 in our channel lineup. This is why being an Xfinity customer is so frustrating. Every time I call you are treated like an idiot.

@XfinityAirelle We live closer to Harrisburg-Lebanon-Lancaster market then Scranton. We should be getting the closet coverage for our region.

@XfinityAirelle  1195 and 1196 do not exist.  I live in southern Schuylkill County and watched WGAL everyday. I can't stand any of the news channels from Scranton or Channel 69.

@XfinityAirelle  Hi, you do know that 1196 - which is an NBC affiliate WCAU out of PHILADELPHIA is NOT the same as WGAL.  Right?  Also 1195 does not exist in my viewing area.  WGAL (the station) is about 6 miles from my house and I can't tune in.  Something is wrong.  So, we have no digital NBC coverage in Lancaster?  That is beyond ridiculous.

It is amazing how little Xfinity knows the customers they serve in the Pottsville, PA area.  The commentator above is correct, more influence from Philadelphia and Harrisburg affects our area than does Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.  Philadelphia channels that were removed years ago continue to be missed in our household.

As far as receiving WPVI, WGAL, or WWOR in HD... never happened.  Those channels were always SD.  Never could understand why HD/4K programming hasn't improved over the years.  Xfinity sure does know how to deliver their outlandish billing!

I’m appalled that WPVI is no longer available in the Pottsville area. Many of us in the Southern Tier more closely identify with Philly rather than Wilkes Barre. How can we get WPVI back into the lineup?

@user_9bf819 I don’t know the answer, but Comcast just doesn’t get it. Of course it has to be about money.

I have no interest in the Scranton/Wilkes Barre market. If you travel just to Hamburg and maybe closer you are in a different market. They don’t seem to care.
