WCVB ABC Boston Moved to 1195 Without Informing TiVo Guide, ZIP Code 06371

Comcast moved WCVB, which is OTA virtual broadcast channel 5, from cable channels 16 & 1005 to channel 1195 in service area ZIP Code 06371 on 9/13/2021.

However Comcast neglected to inform the TiVo Guide people of the change.   I’m unable to schedule recordings of the Boston local news and our favorite show Chronicle on our TiVo.  Chronicle is probably the very best locally produced show on television.

Additionally, WCVB is OTA virtual broadcast channel 5 and logically should be assigned to cable channel 1005 just like other broadcast stations who retain their OTA virtual broadcast numerical identification 1002, 1003, 1008, 1024, 1030 and 1061.

Please restore WCVB to cable channel 1005 and please keep support organizations like TiVo informed of your programming changes.

@XfinityJeniece

Thank you for your response, but it did not address my concern that is that the TiVo Program Guide for WCVB (OTA Virtual Channel 5 - Boston) is not synced to the new Comcast cable channel assignment 1195, it is still on cable channels 16 & 1005.  TiVo's contractors generate the Program Guide database that is updated automatically, daily.  The Program Guide database is the heart of the TiVo, it can not operate properly with out it.  TiVo gets the programming information from Comcast.  Comcast reassigned WCVB to cable channel 1195 but failed to pass that information on to TiVo.  Currently the TiVo guide has no programming for 1195.

Additionally, since WCVB is OTA Virtual Channel 5, it really should be distributed by Comcast on 1005 just like OTA Virtual Channel 3 is assigned cable channel 1003, OTA Virtual Channel 8 is assigned cable channel 1008, OTA Virtual Channel 30 is assigned cable channel 1030, ...

(The link that you provided strangely generates a channel listing with many many more cable channels than a distributed by Comcast in ZIP 06371 when I add my street address).

I do see that some changes were made to WCVB as far back as December, up until when were you able to still record without issues?

I no longer work for Comcast.

WCVB has been included in our channel lineup on cable channel 16 long before Comcast purchased our local cable system.  It was on channel 16 up until two weeks ago.  Going back several years, maybe 2016, Comcast rearranged the groupings of Over the air (OTA) & cable networks that included moving OTA stations into the 1000 series and aligned with their OTA virtual numbering.  For example, OTA virtual channel 2 is assigned cable channel 1002, OTA virtual channel 3 is assigned cable channel 1003, OTA virtual channel 8 is assigned channel 1008, OTA virtual channel 30 is assigned cable channel 1030 and OTA virtual channel 61 is assigned cable channel 1061.  WCVB is OTA virtual channel 5 and was assigned to 1005 in addition to its long time assignment 16.  That was until September 13 when Comcast reassigned it to cable channel 1195.  I am still trying to convince TiVo to correct their programming / channel guide to follow Comcast’s changes.  I haven’t had a lot of luck.
