Samsung Smart Remote for changing Channels
I have a samsung TV about 4 yrs old (QN65Q80RAFXZA- QLED smart 4K). I have it connected thru a relatively new X1 cable box (p013anm).
it comes with a SmartRemote, that does a great job interacting thru the TV and HDMI (via the AnyNet / HDMI-CEC protocol) to control all my connected devices. Until a few weeks ago, I was able to control my xFinity box as well (power as well as channels). Now, the channel changing does not work.
It does work, when I open the door to the cabinet where the box is held, but as soon as I close the door, it stops working. It really doesnt make much sense the way it is behaving, almost like the cablebox doesnt respond via hdmi when the door is closed. I know it is not using IR signal, since I can go out of the room with the remote, change the channel (when door is open). I have all the CEC button clicked on the xfinity box and the setup on the TV.
Funny thing too, when I connect to my TV via my phone (SmartThings app)- it behaves the same, it will control the cable box via HDMI properly when the door is open, but not when it is closed.
All the other HDMI connected devices work fine on the TV (DVR, Games).
I am baffled. I'd rather not leave the door open or put the box on top of the cabinet.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Hi @daryldman,
Thank you for visiting our official Xfinity Forums Community support page. I do apologize, but the issue you are describing it outside our demarcation and a feature designed by Samsung. I would highly recommend contacting Samsung to see if they have any ideas or troubleshooting steps on why the physical remote is having possible issues interacting with the Xfinity set-top box.
I am unsure if your television is supported, but we do offer a native Xfinity Stream app that you might be able to utilize over the set-top box. If this is something you are interested in, I highly recommend visiting our 'Activate the Xfinity Stream App on LG, Samsung and Xumo Smart TVs' support page for supported models and devices.
If you do happen to get steps on how to resolve the issue, please do not hesitate to share the steps here as well in case others are encountering the same problem. We would greatly appreciate it.
