Issues with MSNBC

I'm also unable to change the channel to get to MSNBC live programming.  Our TV is connected to a Comcast box.  But I am able to get to MSNBC Live on the app on my phone.  Also I'm able to watch any recorded MSNBC shows that I wasn't able to watch live (???).  This has been ongoing now for many hours tonight.

Hey @user_0qijor! Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums! I apologize to hear that you are having issues with trying to watch MSNBC live. Since it has been a few days are you still having issues? If so, are you getting an error message or code (starting with XRE or RDK)?

For 2 days now I have no MSNBC or CNN...even on streaming I cleared the apps cache & did a force stop with no success.  Of course FOX news works, but I could never watch them.  Based on all the other comments I think Comcast is pulling some political stunt.

I have this issue also, from time to time. MSNBC just vanishes. can't tune to the channel at all. if the box was on that channel when we turn the TV off (as it often is) it's on CNBC when we turn the TV back on.

I can usually get this to fix itself by cycling power on the box.

I have had this issue roughly once every month or two on Xfinity in three different states (Colorado, Alabama and New Mexico) for the past ten years. The live channel goes out, but the channel can be streamed on the app or using a web browser on a computer.

Almost always, but not 100%, getting a technician through online chat can reset all the boxes in the house (after two or three tries with less drastic resets) restores the channel. Once we were told that the line to our house had a problem.

The channel often comes back by itself after 3 to 48 hours. For something so persistent and widespread, it is amazing to me that Xfinity has not been able to find a permanent fix for the issue. It must be a lot of wasted money on technicians resetting all these boxes.

Has any resolution been found for this periodic issue?  While MSNBC is our primary issue, we see it from time to time with other channels as well.  We thought it was a speed issue a few months back, per the xfinity rep, and they had us replace our router with a new one.  The issue still persists however.  When we select MSNBC from the Live TV guide (streaming app only), we just get a black screen and the three dots.  MSNBC won't load.  We have to turn off our tv and wait 5 minutes and restart.  Then, once we get the channel, if we navigate away from it, we can't get it back without shutting down again.  It's a complete pain!  Seems like a legitimate bug that needs addressed / fixed.

Hi there, user_f3zqxu! This is not an issue that we are seeing widespread, so I think that it may be something we should address individually with you. To get started, what type of device are you seeing this issue occur on? Also, for the basics, you want to make sure the device and the XFINITY Stream app are all updated to the latest version if you have not already. Thanks!

@XfinityFrank You're not seeing this widespread? Maybe you're not looking. You know, answers like this make me want to scream.

My problem with MSNBC has been off and on until a couple of days ago. The screen is pixilated and unviewable. It is upsetting to see you saying "gee, this isn't a widespread problem." Well, it is. Furthermore, I haven't see you answer a post with any suggestions what to do. I do not have this problem with any other network. Could you please look into this and help. I pay hundreds of dollars for my Xfinity services every month. Can I please get some help?

I am having the same issue.  I also find it pretty disheartening the xfinity's reply was that it isn't a widespread problem.  take a scroll down!  What's your definition of "not widespread?"  Very different than mine.  Regardless, FIOS is calling with a new special every day if xfinity is going to be playing politics with my television preferences
