H&I Missing from 116 and 1012 in the Seattle Area

What happened to H&I?  I was watching it last night and this morning both channels are broadcasting a Spanish station.  Did it move, or was it removed?  This is one of my primary stations.

Please read through the comments. Comcast is not in control over what station airs it, and stations don't always inform anyone about a change.

IMHO, if the change is that KVOS (or KUNS, whatever) changed the primary affiliation from handi to univision, Xfinity should have added whatever new subchannel of KVOS that still has handi to Xfinity's thousands of channels lineup (about a dozen of which we even watch), and notified Seattle users of the change. If that is too much for the national comcast apparatus, I'd get it, but the Seattle or Washington office should be aware of the major stations in the area and notify affected users of a change. That is IMHO the way a decent company would have handled this.

Re streaming, the downside is very poor shuttle control (press rewind, I'll think about it, press play, buffering . . .) especially compared with TiVo paired with comcast (press rewind, instant, press play, instant), plus you can't control whether you see commercials (e.g., we will not watch CNN if we have to watch their 50 percent or whatever commercial mix). Those two downsides are the *only* thing that has kept us with Xfinity (versus streaming), and if we don't use Comcast anymore (and go to an HD antenna + streaming), then we will have no further reason to stay with Comcast at all (because we can get data from anywhere, but Comcast is the only one who still supports TiVo to my knowledge). I'm a bit of a unicorn, perhaps, but let's see any current streaming service match the instant behavior of TiVo and local storage on hard drive, especially for watching sports.

KVOS no longer has H&I on any of it's channels. It is apparently on a different station, and that station may not be carried by Comcast.

Perhaps that is so, don't know. But https://www.handitv.com/wheretowatch/affiliate/819 says that H&I is still over the air on KVOS 12.8 and KFFV 44.3. Would think CC could pick one of those and carry it since it apparently still exists (and that is my recommendation and request to CC if I get around to it). But I don't know his subject matter well.

One (rather) slight mitigation: it appears channel 117/1045 (KFFV) shows Star Trek TOS once per week on Saturday nights after Svengoolie. It looks like Star Trek TNG still on BBC America, I think it was. Not quite the cool trek gauntlet KVOS was showing. I guess the presence of MeTV may help those who are into Leave it to Beaver, MASH, etc.

The loss of H&I is about the last straw for me. Channels keep getting removed and H&I kept me sane because I could watch Star Trek. Seriously considering downgrading to the lowest tier on Comcast now because they keep taking things away from me.

H&I, being a broadcast network, would still be in that lowest tier, if it ever becomes available in your area.

I called H&I, today, and as with the other user who called, the agent at H&I said that they are in contract negotiations with Comcast.  Xfinity employees who are monitoring this message board, I appreciate your help.  Pluto TV doesn't begin to cover the H&I lineup, however.  H&I has 5 hours of 5 different western series in the morning, and 5 hours of 5 different Star Trek series in the evenings.  Pluto has 2 of the westerns and 2 of the Star Trek series (missing many of my favorites), and also does not play them contiguously.  There are also specials of interest on H&I, such as the New Year's Eve marathon of The Outer Limits that users have lamented missing.  Please encourage your leadership to successfully negotiate with H&I and resume programming.  This message board is evidence of the strong consumer interest in H&I.  Thank you.

I was also told the same thing when I contacted H&I (1-312-705-2600)

I am sick and tired of comcast. I love H&I because of Star Trek , Texas Ranger , McGyver..etc…. Now they took it away.  They keep raising their prices every chance they get and eliminates  stations people enjoys. Pure evil.

Yes, and I don't see any value in that "official solution."

@user_2gpu0b, thank you for using the Community Forum to reach out. I know how important access to your favorite programs is. I am not extremely familiar with the channel you are referring to, but is it Heroes and Icons TV? If so, have you had a chance to review the announcement on their website?

@XfinityMarcus if would be helpful if the Xfinity employees actually knew what they were talking about instead of just throwing out the first link they can find in a google search.

I just spoke to the nicest person at H&I who said what others have been saying - they're in negations and are hoping by Monday H&I is back on comcast. She mentioned people have been calling and they're trying. I told her about the forum here and that I would also call Comcast and voice my displeasure.

Hopefully at this point, Xfinity is aware of the loss/change.  When I called on 12/31 they were clueless about the issue of why Univision what playing on all the H&I channels both on the cable box and the Xfinity stream app, and kept stating that there was a problem with my equipment, and continued to try and reboot my equipment on numerous occasions.  After over 2 hours on the phone, I was told the issue would be escalated up for further review.  Of course, this was a holiday weekend, and nothing has come of it as of yet.  Ive ordered an amplified antenna, if I can get what I need without the cable box then so be it.

@Jetset2u  I was told something similar when they moved INSP to a sports pkg & wanted more money!!

Bill increasing, selections decreasing, sounds like how a monopoly works, which of course Xfinity is. So you'll only respond to customers walking away. Done.

Moving INSP was a perfect example of them assuming people would be willing to pay more for a popular channel that had a broad viewer base. You'll notice they don't move any of the garbage/negative focused programming to a higher tier.  Guess they figure customers who like more meaningful programming have more money.  What about all of us seniors?  Seems like you are taking away things we like without thinking you are penalizing folks who most likely cannot afford more. Not to mention, the prices keep going up on what we already have, so how do you expect us to pay more on top of the increases? Comast wants you to think they need to make these increases to stay in business...really???? How about removing some of the junk that nobody wants to watch instead of programming that has some substance/value to people.

You’ll never get the truth from them and you’ll see that below. Someone actually called H & I and was told Comcast had dropped it. Is anyone surprised by that? H&I had all the Trek series and I was in the middle of re-watching Deep Space Nine. But I don’t suppose I’m really surprised. A few months back, I asked for a lower rate with the exact same services I had, and I ended up losing my landline, being given a mobile phone that was supposed to be free but actually cost more than what I was going to save, and I lost all my premium channels and all my DVR storage. I reported them to the attorney generals office and I would suggest all of you do the same — that did prompt a call from their corporate office. We didn’t get anywhere, but at least the attorney generals office knows that they are not treating the customers fairly.

You’ll never get a straight answer from Comcast about what happened. The poster who said they called H & I directly found out the truth — Comcast dropped them. That station had all the old Star Trek shows and I was right in the middle of re-watching Deep Space Nine — so hats off to Comcast [Edited: "Inflammatory"/"Language"]

Called H&I today. Was told they are still negotiating. Whoever "they" are.

@user_sdqbdk it’s better than nothing but I wonder what the odds are this works out and we get H&I back on xfinity? I tried an antenna and had no luck so now I’m thinking of moving over to Dish. I really loved watching H&I, especially Star Trek at night, it was one of the few channels I watched.
