Fox Sports 2

As a NASCAR fan, I was afraid that I would not be able to see the same racing events that I used to see on Speed when they rebranded the channel this past weekend.  I was just proven correct.  I now won't be able to see the Whelan Modified race that is airing on FoxSports 2 from Bristol tonight as Comcast doesn't have Fox Sports 2 in the channel lineup.  I was able to watch it last year when it was on Speed.

I strongly encourage Comcast to rectify this situation and add Fox Sports 2 to the lineup.  If I can't watch the things I want to watch because the channel isn't available, then I'm going to look for a cable provider who can provide it.

Verizon FiOS offers all Fox Sports channels and in HD! In my area (a VERY affluent Silicon Valley suburb) Comcast has a pathetic offering of HD channels. I hope that Verizon FiOS comes to the Bay Area and puts them out of business with their better HD offerings, betters channel selection and much better service.

Seriously, look at the channel selection for FiOS in ZIP 22182 and how many HD channels they offer compared to Comcast. On FiOS I can watch UEFA (all games) in HD!

I was with Comcast from 1993 to last Fall when I switched to Verizon for a variety of reasons.  In Reston, Virginia:

1.  Fox does NOT offer Fox Sports 2 in HD.  Verizon has it and it is in SD.

2.  I pay a $15 a month upcharge to watch Fox Soccer Plus and it is NOT in HD.  I will probably not continue to do this because of the overall poor quality of the picture.  I am use to HD.

3.  I would make the serious argument that much of the problem is with Fox Sports and neither Comcast, Verizon or anyone else.  Fox offers the online service, FoxSoccer2Go for approximately $20 a month and I was disappointed with it also.

4.  GolTV is not available in English on Verizon.  It IS available in Spanish in SD.  Comcast has neither.

5.  Bein Sports IS in HD on Verizon but not Comcast.

6..  FWIW Verizon has more sports channels than Comcast.  Verizon carries NESY, SNY, UNISp HD, NBCSp HD, Longhorn Network and Willow Cricket HD among others.  When I left Comcast they did not carry any of these.

The cost of Verizon vs. Comcast is similar.  I had "specials" on both.  My guess is that in areas like mine which are served by both Comcast and Verizon, over time, Comcast will bend and add more channels to hold onto their market share.

In the meantime if Fox does not add HD on several of their channels they are going to lose their own market share.

ComcastTed, isn't this the internet service?  Similar to FoxSoccer2Go and ESPN 3 which are online?  If it is, yes, I can watch it on my television.  Because it is a SmartTV and has a web browser.  But for me the quality of the video in a "stream" is not as good as "traditional" HD and not a replacement for it.

But that is me.  And, I think, a few others, too.

I am not aware of Fox Sports 2 or ESPN 3 being available at no charge via Smart TVs or online.

Typically, ESPN and Fox Sports will ask for proof that you subscribe to their channel through a video provider before allowing access to their online stream.

In most cases that is done via a login and password or a credential check.

Ted, I went to Fox Sports to Go. It does work and ask you which provider you use. I logged in to Xfinity and goes to the site just fine. Then I went to the "All Channels" drop down tab and found Fox Sports Local channel WXIN-59, probably for the Indiana Pacers. The next shows Fox Sports 1 and believe or not there is a grayed out Fox Sports 2 and Fox Sports Deportes.

Tell me then, is this for an opportunity to grow by offering FS2 and FS Latino? Thanks for at least answering my question. It would seem that the blame lays in BOTH laps, being Fox and Xfinity.

Please tell us when the two of you will get to the table and negotiate some sort of settlement. Would it help to call Big Comcast or write the President?

What will it take to solve this conundrum? We, the consumers, would like to see any resolution to this on going problem.

Do we need FS2? Only if it carries something we would like to watch. Do we want FS2? By all means.

We always want something we can't have, I want a Ferrari but that is not going to happen. This, to me, could probably happen at the flip of a switch. I would watch FS2 if it had anything better to watch than the El Rey Network. js

JS, I would wager that you will get your Ferrari BEFORE Comcast puts FS2 in the national line up!!!!

How's about it Ted? What are you willing to wager that I'm wrong?

Obviously comcast regularly meetings with fox are not nearly enough as this complaint for Foxsports 2 is being asked for in a very wide region across the U.S. Comcast teds. Why keep repeating the same answer and just escalate the problem on up to those who CAN make a decision and get it done this year. Your losing customers over this channel is quite possibly going to increase over the summer season.

At the Fox Sports website link provided http://msn.foxsports.com/foxsportsgo/ customers can access certain Fox channels and stream them online - channels that you have in your level of service, regardless of what company you have as a video provider.

Fox Sports 2 and other Fox Sports services that are grayed out are not currently offered by Comcast in your area.

If those channels were offered on your TV lineup, then yes, our customers would most likely have access to these channels online as well via that site.

Comcast continues to be in discussions with Fox regarding possible distribution of many of their channels and offerings. Our programming teams meet with Fox regularly. A contract and agreement to terms is required before we can offer any channel to our customers.  These need to be terms that make sense for both parties and for our customers.

All channels, regardless of affiliation, are required to go through the same application and approval process in order to be carried by Comcast.

Thanks for the feedback.

Well now it's getting down to the time when "maybe" I have to decide to "Fish or cut bait". In checking this weeks schedule it appears that the Sprint Cup Qualifing will be on FS2. THIS isn't going to make NASCAR fans happy at all.

Our programming teams are well aware of the current situation with Fox.

It takes two companies to come to a mutually agreeable arrangement.

I believe that Fox puts so few games on FoxSports1 knowing that people will be forced to watch either FoxSports2 or FoxSoccerPlus.  They also know that almost nobody carries these channels.  And, for the few that do, HD is almost nonexistent.  Therefore, they hope that people will go online and pay the $20 upcharge per month to watch FoxSoccer2Go.

But the video on FoxSoccer2Go is inconsistent and has never approached HD.

Yet when you go to their website they yell and scream to contact your cable provider.  Let us try to influence Comcast and others to carry FoxSports2 and FoxSoccerPlus.  In SD.

I am critical of Comcast.  But Fox Sports is now awful.  When they replaced the Fox Soccer Channel with FXX and lost the PL broadcasts they seem to have given up.  Verizon charges $15 a month for FoxSoccerPlus.  In SD.  FoxSoccer2Go, online, is $20 per month.  And, it's neither SD or HD.

Did I mention ESPN 3 is free?

ComcastTeds:  you did not answer my question.  You provided a link.  I asked if this was an internet site which leads to online streaming or the ability to watch an HD television channel.  I believe the answer is that it is an internet site with an inferior online stream to what an HD television channel is capable of.

I can access ESPN 3 by using my old Comcast e-mail address or my new Verizon e-mail address.  Yes, I need one or the other.  Fox has upcharges for FoxSoccer2Go.  $20 per month. ESPN 3 does not have an upcharge.   Both are ONLINE STREAMING.  The quality of the video does NOT approach what you and Verizon offer with HD.  It is also inconsistent and fails quite often.

For me and I think for others online streaming is not an adequate replacement for HD video.  I only watch something online when it is not available on cable or satellite.  I am sure that a lot of people-who are trying to avoid the expense-will accept online streaming.  But I am not one.  We spent almost $300 a month with Comcast on our "bundle."  I wanted the best quality video I could get.  Online is not a source for this.

Interesting thread.

No sprint cup qualifying in Texas. At least not for me...Don't get fox Sports 2,0. I am more than willing to pay 25$ or 30$.

I just heard on Fox Sports 1 while watching practice that, as you said, Cup qualifying is going to be on Fox Sports 2 tomorrow, this really sucks but who do we blame: Comcast for not showing FS2 or Fox Sports for spliting up the Speed Channel and creating FS1 and FS2?? I've expressed my thoughts to both of them but wasted my time doing it....nobody listens!!!!!
