Fox KAYU Spokane
It’s extremely frustrating to pay lots of $$$ for a cable service and not have access stations. We are avid, sports, and football fans, and for this contract to expire in the fall is extremely inconvenient. We are seriously considering ending our agreement with Xfinity if this is not resolved in a reasonable time frame.

**Update 1/17/2023**
We’ve reached an agreement with Imagicomm Communications to continue carry its programming and, at this time, all content has been restored. FOX 28 in Spokane, WA and FOX 13 in Memphis, TN and all affiliated channels and On Demand programming are available through Xfinity once again. We know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be frustrating, and we apologize for any inconvenience.

Hello, @user_94db39 and all other impacted customer! We pay programmers in order to bring you the entertainment you love, and our agreements with programmers expire from time to time. We have successfully negotiated thousands of agreements with programmers and reached agreements in almost every instance. We continue to work to bring this programming back, but only with fair terms and conditions that make sense for our customers.

@user_73e414 We pay programmers in order to bring our customers the entertainment they love, and our agreements with programmers expire from time to time. We have successfully negotiated thousands of agreements with programmers and reached agreements in almost every instance. However, we have made a number of reasonable offers that Imagicomm Communications has not accepted. As a result, we are prevented from making this content available through Xfinity and Comcast Business, including related TV Go channels and On Demand. We continue to work to keep this programming, but only with fair terms and conditions that make sense for our customers. You and our customers can visit https://www.xfinity.com/howitworks to stay up to date on programming negotiations.

THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE!!!
Not only did Comcast/Xfinity cancel the Fox channel but they increased my monthly subscription by $5.00??? [Edited: "Language"]??? I’m thinking of canceling Comcast/Xfinity after being a loyal customer for over 20 years! I’m also tired of Comcast/Xfinity’s customer service support being out sourced to other countries!
UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Absolutely terrible customer service - I have been hung up on / not called back multiple times.
Shouldn’t we get a discount now if this channel apparently costs so much?

So when will we have the station back? I need to find an alternative method to watch my football games, whatever that may be, until you return my channel. We missed a great game on Sunday.Maybe you can show the football games another way. I pay for the sports channels so I can watch Ohio State, and I missed their game on Saturday. My weekend was 0 for 2.

The following is my view/opinion and not the view/opinion of Comcast/Xfinty:
These networks, (all networks) are under a time limited agreement... when that agreement reaches expiration, the network comes to the table requesting more money per subscriber, limitation of what package their network is included, and other aspects of the company being allowed to make the network available to the customer. All cable and satellite company's have to make one of four decisions:
If negotiations continue beyond the date of the current agreement's expiration date, then by the terms of the agreement (set by the network), the channel must be removed from all channel lineups within that company.
I have been in this business for over 2.5 decades. I can tell all of you, this is a common occurrence across all cable and satellite companies. Many times, agreements are reached before the expiration and the customer never knows the situation has occurred. However, there are times when the situation gets to the point in which the customer is directly impacted through the loss of the network. Most of the time, the networks and the company come to acceptable terms. It is rare, but possible, that terms cannot be reached. To my knowledge, negotiations are currently ongoing in this situation.

I pay a “REGIONAL SPORTS FEE” of $9.35 and “BROADCAST TV FEE” of $23.85. I don’t get the Seahawks, Mariners or WSU. Xfinity blames Fox 28 and Fox blames Xfinity.
I’m going to buy unlimited Internet and phone for $140 and killing cable television. My bill goes from $280 to $140. As soon as fiber gets up my hill I’ll get rid of Xfinity all together.
YouTube TV is $72 and has live broadcast, Seahawks and WSU and 140+ channels. I’ll save $70 or more a month.
The best part is holding Xfinity accountable. I filed a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General for the Broadcast and Regional Sports fees. Charging for a service not provided is fraud.

I agree. Local sports is important. Will this dispute end soon or should I go elsewhere?

Xfinity needs to figure out the contract with KAYU Fox 28. I pay a local broadcast fee and the local channel isn't available because of a contract dispute.

Why are you the ONLY station not under contract with Xfinity? It seems like YOU are the problem.

The situation at hand raises a pressing concern – it's clear that we're not living in 2003 anymore. People no longer rely solely on traditional cable services like Xfinity to access sports content, particularly College and NFL football. People are cutting the cord daily, and it's high time for the "big wigs" at Comcast to understand that their days of pocketing exorbitant sums just because of their historical position are over.
The media landscape has undergone a seismic shift, with a multitude of options available to live sports fans. The balance of power has shifted from the corporation to the customer, and we now demand the respect we deserve.
Consider the colossal contracts in college football, reflecting the immense value of live sports content. Imagicomm Communications, in all likelihood, has had to charge more for the rights to their network, a move that mirrors the industry's new reality. Modern-day ad agencies have woken up to the fact that the viewers they seek are primarily found during live sports broadcasts.
But what's Comcast doing? Staying inflexible and unwilling to meet these changing demands. It's already two months into the football season, and those of us who've kept cable subscriptions primarily for live sports are paying a premium for games we can't access. This leaves a bitter taste in our mouths, and I can confidently say that I'm not alone in feeling this frustration, especially this weekend as FOX carries significant games, and Xfinity users are left in the lurch.
Comcast must adapt to the evolving media environment, recognize the shifting power dynamics, and prioritize their loyal customers. It's high time for them to reassess their stance on this matter and find a resolution that serves everyone's interests.

This situation is extremely upsetting. It's absolutely ridiculous that we can't watch our local sports teams. We pay a lot of money for Xfinity every month, and now they expect us to look elsewhere to watch the games that should be added into our Xfinity package. If this continues much longer my family and I are going to look elsewhere, as I'm sure many other customers will. We all deserve to be updated on how the negotiations are going so we can make an informed decision about if we want to stay or go!! The MLB playoffs are coming up as well as Seahawks, and important college games. PLEASE GIVE US SOME INFORMATION!!

I’m not so sure it’s all Xfinity/Comcast fault. I’ll bet Fox is holding out for more money so they can make up for all the money that they lost in lawsuits over the last year or so.
