E. W. Scripps Programming Agreement Expired

E. W. Scripps cable network programming is currently unavailable as our agreement with E. W. Scripps has expired.

Please know we pay programmers to bring you the entertainment you love, and a number of reasonable offers have been made and they haven’t been accepted. Comcast is working toward bringing back this programming, but only with fair pricing, terms, and conditions for customers. I know unexpected changes to your TV lineup can be frustrating, and I apologize for any inconvenience.

Your financial disagreement with Scripps is going to cost you a lot of customers. Many people that I know who have paid for cable for years are disgusted with this, including myself. You're going to lose many clients to streaming platforms when you take away the most popular local news channel in the area. I've already cut my cable in half and I'm discovering how little I need it, especially if I now have to find and stream the local news team that I've watched for over 25 years.

We are aware that there are contract negotiations going on with Scripps. However, it seems to be out of standstill for too long. It’s always been a public accessible station. I understand that other parts of the country aren’t having this problem. It seems like there needs to be something else done besides penalizing your customers we will have to make another choice for a provider if it doesn’t change soon. .

@XfinityEmilyB Will Comcast be partially refunding customers who are paying Broadcast TV Fees ($42.70) every month.

Why punish customers to pay for something that they are receiving.

I understand that Xfinity and Scripps are struggling to negotiate; HOWEVER, I pay to have ABC available and I think it would be appropriate to discount all monthly bills until this is resolved.  This is a corporate problem not a customer problem.
thank you

This is such [Edited: "Profanity"] that we cannot receive a local station through cable.  When will this be rectified?

I have been with Comcast for 35+ years. With the price we pay for cable we should be able to see our local WPTV. Please come to an agreement, we miss our favorite local shows.

Come on Xfinity...

Yes, prices for everything continues to rise.  That's today's economy.

It's time for the corporation to reach into their deep pockets and pay up.  Execs are in a better position to take less of a bonus this year than I am to pay higher prices for less service.

I've been loyal for over 30 years paying for your premium package.  Time for Xfinity/Comcast to reciprocate in like manner.

Don't be so greedy to save a few bucks that you end up losing customers who pay quite a bit for monthly cable.

The more I'm pushed to find my channels through other sources,  the more likely I'm getting closer to cutting the cable cord.

This is more than frustrating for the customer, it feels like a betrayal.  Give us what we signed up for.  Quality service, complete programming.  We don't need to be caught up in corporate disputes and and paying for the price of your negotiations.

Put Scripps channels back on the air as part of our cable package.   Plain and simple.

Signed,

Disgruntled & Dissatisfied

Twenty-three days and counting.  Each morning and afternoon when I want to get the local news and weather on WXYZ, the local ABC affiliate, I get that stupid pink screen.   Basically, Comcash is unresponsive to its subscribers on the missing channels.  No change in the message, no updates that there is any effort being made to a resolution.

Given the movement by the public away from cable tv to streaming, one would think that Comcash would want to resolve this.

It is becoming more apparent that the lack of agreement with Scripps is going to be permanent.    I've had Comcash for over thirty years, and it's becoming more apparent that cutting the cord is going to be my response.

I'd like to have my Denver ABC channel back.  It used to be that cable companies could not remove local channels due to the need for information during emergencies (fire, severe weather, etc.).  This rule needs to be reinstated.

Please return my NBC / WPTV programming. I watch Kelly and Mark, my talk shows, soaps and Jimmy Fallon. What’s going on?

Comcast needs to bring back WPTV.  The alternative is subscribing to Hulu and that’s costly.

Please return my NBC / WPTV programming. ... What’s going on?

The station is owned by the E. W. Scripps Company, and Scripps and Comcast are currently mired in a "who is most macho" battle. See https://www.xfinity.com/facts. They win, we lose.

I agree with so many of you on this forum.  Xfinity is already far too expensive.  My Xfinity TV, internet, phone, and home bill is $438.  I put up with this exorbitant amount because it is very convenient to have everything together and, in my experience up until March 31st, receive good service.  We have had Comcast/Xfinity here in Lakewood for 24 years!

It is unbelievable and completely unacceptable that we have been without Denver 7, our ABC station, for over three weeks with no sign of a resolution!  Why would any customer put up with this?  I have been reluctant to "cut the cord" because I have not wanted to deal with a plethora of other streaming companies, all requiring a monthly subscription fee.  We watch a lot of TV and record favorite shows and news programs daily.  Unfortunately, a large portion of those are (were) on ABC!

I am so frustrated with the seeming overwhelming lack of care on your part.  The Xfinity screen on my ABC station has not changed or updated.  As so many others have said, we had no warning and see no indication that you are doing anything to fix this, except, of course, posting the exact same rote non-answer to absolutely every complaint for over three weeks.  SURELY I pay you enough to bring Scripps back!  If you are treating Scripps the way you are treating your customers, my trust and sympathy are not on your side. Google Fiber is coming, and you are destroying the loyalty you have built with this customer over the last 24 years.

AND I am getting pretty good and switching over to my Firestick and Tablo, which is happily showing and recording all the shows for me that you are not.  Maybe cutting the cord wouldn't be so difficult after all...

From an entire family of really unhappy customers.

The year is 2026. In an age of high speed data, streaming services, online gaming, etc. and I have to bust out a rabbit ear antenna because you guys won’t come to an agreement for a service we all pay a lot of money for. We’re in Michigan trying to watch the NFL draft. I don’t even pay for the full package it’s only local channels and one of my few local channels I can’t even access? c’mon. Please think of putting your customers before profits.

When does Comcast intend to refund the portion of our monthly service fee that was allocated to Scripps prior to the expiration of the agreement on 3/31/26?   We pay far too much to lose a major channel and not be compensated.  The portion of our monthly fee Comcast was previously paying to Scripps is now in Comcast's pocket.  (I am in the Utah Wasatch Front market and no longer have Fox13.)
