Discover Plus

Will there be an extra chage on my bill for DiscoverPlus. My current plan gets all the programs mentioned in Discover plus advertising

If it's true that channels are being removed from the cable lineup, I assume my cable bill will go down as well.

You are wrong. Discovery owns those channels. They are moving to the DiscoveryPlus network. Anything they MAY allow to stay would be old reruns because any new programming is moving to the paid subscription - like Property Brothers Forever Home, the Bobby and Giada in Itay Food Network show. Chip and Joanna have their own channel, taking over the old DIY, and that starts later in January. No new programming on channels owned by Discovery is going to be on Xfinity UNLESS it is for a short teaser time. And these Xfinity employees on here know this.

The only program I’ve seen advertised on Discovey+ that I would be interested in is Joe Kenda’s new show “American Detective “. I’ll just keep my fingers crossed that the ID channel picks it up. 😃

The  only ones who would know if new programming would be exclusive to Discovery+ are those who WORK for Discovery Networks. Comcast is a competitor via NBC/Universal, and would not know what shows will appear where and when.

If you have complaints about shows requiring a separate subscription to watch, complain to Discovery Networks...

@DR2020  Did you ever hear the saying "you are beating a dead horse". How many times has it been explained here. I am not a defender of Comcast but have no idea why people blame Comcast for third party issues.

Any concerns about programming should be directed to Discovery, it’s their service.

Excuse me, but what happened to the posts that were here?  When I click on the link you just posted, I get an Access Denied message.  So maybe Comcast is removing Discovery channels from their service?????

If it wasn’t clear - those pictures are date and time stamped photos of the TV screen showing DiscoveryPlus ads currently running on Xfinity cable (currently) channels HGTV and Food Network in the Colorado market now.

Agree with you 100%. Was hoping since I pay a fortune to Comcast monthly for these channels that I would have free access (similar to HBO Max - as HBO is in my current package). With all the streaming services on the market it may be alot cheaper to dump cable and pay for streaming ones. Discovery plus has a ton of channels I watch and one of the reasons I have cable to begin with. Frustrating that Disc+ will have some original content that I can't see unless I pay extra money for the streaming service.

Of course they are which is why they just removed the DiscoveryPlus ad showing all the channels which are DiscoveryPlus - which is a screenshot of their ad playing on HGTG currently in the Colorado market. Those two Xfinity employees have been lying on here for days. Good thing I have screenshots of every posting. Here it is again.

@DR2020
Since you have a hard time understanding what is happening, here’s a post by a fellow customer in this thread that breaks it down for you. The app has been going since November in the UK and nothing has changed.

To recap, Discovery has channels on Xfinity, no changes are expected to these channels?

Discovery is launching a streaming app called Discovey plus. Included, or should include all thier discovery programs plus the new Maganolia network.

Eventualy/most liklye an app will be included like all the other apps in the on demand section of xfinify. Think of Netflix and HULU. You would pay for access to this app which has nothign to do with Xfinity. Yes some duplicaiton may exist, your choice to pay Discovery + and or complain to them....

The newDiscovey Plus straming service is availble January 4th. If you want it ASAP there is nothing stopping you from accessing Discovery Plus on another medium on January 4th, then when it becomes availbe on Xfiniy just logon with your account you created.

Did I have it correct?

Thanks for the answers and patience with a few..:)

Do you see any of the incorrect information that you keep posting in this Discovery news release?

Xfinity’s OWN cable ads for those mentioned shows - ads for which Xfinity is presumably getting paid - specifically state that the new programming will ONLY be available on DiscoveryPlus.

CCAndrew: there is NOTHING there that I have not been saying that you nave repeatedly denied - all new content in those channels - Property Brothers Home, Home Town, Chip and Joanna - all of which were formally on cable will NOT be on cable - just DiscoveryPlus. I have NO interest in watching any leftover reruns on cable. For a cable company which is showing Magnum PI and 10 year old SVU - I would think that would be pretty clear.

Go back and read your very first two posts and everything since “Discovery network is going away” wrong
“Comcast is spinning off its most popular channels” wrong
Now the backpedal you are now talking about individual shows “possibly” going away, according to you and nobody else.
Fill out whatever regulatory complaint you think you need to and be prepared to get laughed at by giving two anonymous forum names. Do yourself a favor and wait and see what really happens.
This thread has degraded beyond usefulness and is now closed
