Discover Plus

Will there be an extra chage on my bill for DiscoverPlus. My current plan gets all the programs mentioned in Discover plus advertising

I just looked at Travel Channel for this week (Jan 10-16).
Mon: World's Most Unexplained, Paranormal Declassified
Tue: The Dead Files
Wed: True Paranormal
Thu: UFOs Uncovering the Truth, UFO Witness

Exactly! Just saw on 2 programs I watch that new episodes will appear solely on Discovery  +. So why should I continue to pay for cable? I already had to buy Norton because I don't trust Comcast security. Now their channels won't show new episodes?

@Again
It is the programming and contract Xfinity sold people. If Xfinity can no longer fulfil their customer programming and contract, Xfinity owes customers a HUGE refund.

You are aware that Comcast PAYS Discovery Networks for the right to carry their channels. There is typically a multi-year agreement involved. If Discovery Networks reduces the worth of their channels, then it's up to them and Comcast to come to a new agreement to reduce costs. Comcast currently still has to pay Discovery Networks the same amount, no matter how few people watch the channels.

And again, if you are mad about losing shows, send your complaints to Discovery Networks:

I guess I may have worded that wrong. Not losing the channel we r losing the programming. The shows that I watch religiously like, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Nations, Mountain Monsters, The Dead Files, Street Outlaws, Lone Star Law, My Haunted House, True Terror, Paranormal Declassified, and I could go on. I am able to watch these now within my triple play package now. But whenever Discovery+ takes over i feel like I am back into a corner and have no choice at all but to pay for the Discovery+ and its not right. Who fights us. And I have written to Discovery as u suggested, but I know how it works and I won't hold my breath waiting on a response from them.

 The app has been out for a week. Check the guide to see if they are still there. Most are.

@andyross
Incorrect. Talk to your legal department. The cable customer’s contract is with Xfinity. Xfinity demands a certain price for represented programming. It is Xfinity’s responsibility to reduce cable bills if for whatever reason they cannot provide the represented, contractual programming (like the sports billing reduction I just got) and Xfinity’s responsibility to go back against Discovery. Basic contract law. And FTC regulation as you compensated employees are about to find out.

Discovery+ is a streaming platform with over 55,000 episodes from 2,500 shows.

This is a subscription service.  Those 55,000 episodes from 2,500 shows are reruns.  Nothing new there.  However, there will be new content exclusive to Discovery+ channels.

This really is nothing different from Hulu, Netflix, HBO Max, Amazon Prime, etc.  You're not losing any channels that are already out there.

already seeing discovery move content, not channels, behind their pay wall. This is going to certainly have me and many others seriously considers the need for cable TV.

I'm in total agreement. You can't charge the same if you can't deliver the new episodes.
