Clarity on Paramount+ with Showtime

I just watched the ad and it says coming in January. It's January, but when I try to watch Paramount+ content...I'm taken to the screen to subscribe to Paramount+. I am a Showtime subscriber. When will I and how do I get to watch Paramount+ content. Please explain.

Hey, @Skieman69! Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums! From my understanding, when you sign in to the Paramount+ app you will also have access to Showtime content. Kind of like how the Max app has access to HBO, ID, and a few other networks. You won't be able to access Paramount+ content through Showtime.

Here is what it says on Paramount+ support page:

A subscription to the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME network through your TV provider includes access to the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME channel, SHOWTIME multi-plex channels (TMC and Flix), as well as Paramount+ with SHOWTIME On Demand* and through your TV provider streaming app.

In addition, some customers** will receive a subscription to the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan on Paramount+ at no extra cost! You’ll activate your Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan on Paramount+ by going to paramountplus.com and creating an account using your TV provider username and password. Please note that this access will not be available until the channel rebrand on January 8th, and differs by provider.

@Pdoggcity From what you stated above you get Showtime with your Paramount+ subscription not Paramount+ with your Showtime Subscription. However, I would be happy to review your account with you and your subscriptions to see what is needed to get you access to the content on Paramount +. To get started, please send our team a private message with your full name, the name listed on the account (if different), and the service address associated with your account.

To send a "Direct Message" message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

Click the "Direct Messaging" icon at the top of the page (looks like a text bubble)

Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

Press Enter to send it

Says on Paramount+ we have to use XFINITY username and password to signup on Paramount+ site.  I guess if it’s free it will not ask for a debit card.

@user_0i25xg Thank you for reaching out. I see you were having some trouble on your end. You should be able to access the content using the Xfinity Stream App/website or on X1 using your set-up box. As you found on the Paramount+ site, we aren't a support provider at this time.

Says on Paramount+ that on January 8th to signup using username and password that you use to sign into cable provider.  I am guessing as well that if it works it will not require a debit/credit card.  XFINITY can you please see if this is going to work?

I am a long time Showtime subscriber through xfinity. I am  also a long time Paramount Plus subscriber separately without Showtime from before the merger all the way back to the CBS All Access days. I tried setting up a separate account with my xfinity log in and it still asked me for a payment option. There was no option to link my provider. Luckily I have a week free to see if it gets sorted out so I cancel my original subscription so I'm not double dipping.

Another thing I noticed is that some Showtime content is available through the Xfinity stream & the Paramount Plus app but not available on On Demand on my X1 connected to my TV'S. It seems to me that this rebrand messed some things up. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like people who want access to Showtime would be better off canceling their subscription on cable and subscribing directly with Paramount + with Showtime.

Because that would be the only way to get access to 4K HDR streams and on demand content.

Unfortunately it's looking that way.  Unsurprisingly, that's what Paramount Plus recommended that I do when I finally spoke to someone after being on hold: I should cancel my Showtime through Xfinity and sign up through Paramount Plus.  Of course, then I wouldn't be able to watch Showtime through my tv, only on PC or on console.

So I did some digging and as of right now it seems that only Spectrum and Hulu are the only providers that are offering access to Paramount+ to subscribers of linear Showtime through their service. Much like HBO MAX/ MAX at the beginning of of their launch. I'll be checking daily to see if Xfinity gets added.

They just added ATT Uverse and Direct TV Stream now.

https://www.paramountplus.com/partner/

Comcast holding out on not paying.

1 Message

I found this same info. The list of current P+ partners is here www.paramountplus.com/partner. I guess customers paying for premium channels through Xfinity will have to wait until Xfinity is added as a P+ partner. In the meantime, will Xfinity be issuing reimbursements to customers paying for a premium channel they currently don't have access to?

Additionally, the solution to use this link paramountplus.com/xfinity does not work after entering the 'access code'. This link was provided in one of the P+ forums.

@user_4du7tg Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us here on our Xfinity Forums. Just to clarify, our valued customers who subscribe to the Paramount channel can access that via their cable box and the Xfinity Stream app while connected to their in home network. Not every channel is partnered to stream via the channel's streaming app, and Paramount is one of those channels. Paramount Plus is a paid streaming service that is separate from the Paramount channel. Since our customers do have access to Paramount channel there would be no credit that would be warranted. The link you are referencing would be to activate a subscription, paid separately by the customers to Paramount+, on a Xumo or X1 box. I hope this helps to clarify.

My lineup specifically says Paramount+ with Showtime NOT Paramount. Basically what you are saying is Paramount+ w/Showtime that Xfinity supplies is not the same product that Paramount+ provides directly through their streaming app.

All this trouble just to binge Star Trek TOS, sheesh!

Basically, we need to drop Xfinity and switch to AT&T or Hulu.  The fees and rentals for Xfinity are ridiculous....  adds more than 50% additional costs to the package your buying anyway, and then Xfinity can't even be bothered to be a trusted partner with paramount.

I was also told by an Xfinity rep, back in Dec, that we would be able to use our Xfinity login on the P+ apps to be able to access all of the Showtime programming (which isn't on the Xfinity Stream app), just like we log into MAX for our HBO programming. Right now, Xfinity still isn't listed as a provider, so this is very disappointing since I can't watch movies I want to watch. I just tried calling and was put on hold for a long time, so never got back to me with an answer.

This is very frustrating.  I've been paying for a 3 channel Premium Bundle that includes Showtime for years.  I'm still being charged but can not gain access to Paramount+ to watch anything?  They keep asking me for a credit card?   So how long am I going to be paying for a channel I don't have access too?

Hey there, @lfiorani, thanks for reaching out through Xfinity Forums regarding your Showtime subscription. Showtime has rebranded to Paramount+ with Showtime. The network name and logo will be updated, and the network’s on demand content now includes select programming that was previously exclusive to the Paramount+ app. Customers with a subscription can access the main Paramount+ with Showtime channel, seven multi-plex channels, and Paramount+ with Showtime On Demand on their TV Box and through Xfinity Stream.

The Paramount+ with Showtime network differs from the app service of the same name, and customers are unable to access the app through their channel subscription at this time. I hope this information helps! If you are interested in adding Paramount+ app you can do so through your TV box or on the Paramount+ website.

I tried to access Paramount+ programming on X1 and it asked me to log in.  I used my ID and password from Comcast and could not get in with that info. The only programs I can access through the Paramount+ with Showtime app are the ones in Showtime.  As far as I am concerned, regardless of what is called, it's still just Showtime since I cannot access Paramount+ programming.

Comcast should make sure that Showtime customers (now Paramount+ with Showtime) have access to Paramount+ content via their remote controls.  If we are not going to be able to access Paramount+ programming, they should just say so.

Xfinity is very shady with this.  I just got off the phone with them saying my plan says Paramount + with Showtime but I can't get any Paramount+ programming.  They just kind of laughed.

"and customers are unable to access the app through their channel subscription at this time."   Why is that, when there are 5 other providers

listed on the Paramount plus website that will let their customers access it?

1 Message

@tbill1 I think Xfinity has no plan to make the Paramount Plus app and Paramount Plus with Showtime in app upgrade available to its current Showtime subscribers at no fee like other providers are doing

It would be nice if Xfinity could actually give us an answer as to if and when we will be able to use our Paramount Plus with showtime subscription without using one of their boxes. I pretty much only watch tv and movies on my Apple TV.

yeah good luck getting a straight answer from a comcast rep.

from what I can see, there are a limited number of paramount shows and movies that are now available on the showtime on-demand list. you can watch star trek discovery (4 seasons), halo, and there are a couple of others. not everything. none of the yellowstone spinoffs, not that new show about the black marshal, no STTOS or STBNW. no picard or STNG. just a teaser to get you to want to buy P+, IMHO.

which is too bad, seeing as I just cancelled Prime. looking for a new show or 2.

I have had Showtime as part of my subscription for almost 20 years. When I access Paramount+ with Showtime On Demand on my TV Box and through Xfinity Stream there are Showtime shows with a fee to watch. American Rust and City On A Hill are examples for $2.99 per episode. Why am I not able to access these shows on demand without an additional charge?

This is a complete mess. I cant reach customer support to revise by account - I have no desire to have this as part of my "package" when it doesn't work - I can pay the same amount to them directly or via amazon or apple tv and watch their full content -

Hey, @user_o168lc! Thanks for reaching out to us on the forums! I apologize to hear that when you are trying to watch Paramount+ with Showtime On Demand it's trying to charge you.  Right now, I believe Paramount is still in the process of adding Cable providers' access to customers who have Showtime in their channel lineup. At this time are you still able to access the showtime channels (342, 347)?

Good morning Michael,

Thanks for your response.  At this time I am still able to access the showtime channels 342 and 347. Do you have a time frame of Paramount adding Cable providers' access to customers who have Showtime in their channel lineup? I  would like to watch the prior season of American Rust on demand.

Thanks again.

Good morning @user_o168lc there is no ETA concerning Paramount+ finalizing access for providers, this is something I am also looking forward to as well. In the meantime, Showtime has made Season 1 of American Rust Season One available On Demand. The 9 episodes can be purchased individually at $2.99 per episode, or you can purchase Season One for $19.99. The respective networks set the cost of On Demand programming.

Hello Joe,

As I advised previously, Showtime is part of my subscription. Why would I be charged to watch a show that I already pay for?

2 Messages

It says paramount+ with showtime as part of my plan and looking at it closer, that is now the name of the one showtime channel. So essentially, I am paying $12 for one channel. How disappointing. I will be cancelling.

2 Messages

I was thinking the same thing, once I saw the new name of the Showtime channel, of which there is only one.  $178 a month for the package I have (before it ends up being $308 with fees, etc.) and it doesn't part out the price of the Paramount+, so I can't remove it to save money.  Seems like a marketing scam to say you're getting something and you're not.  I've been with Comcast since 1999.  Thinking it's time to move on.

@tvtonight thank you for taking time out of your day to reply to this post, this isn't the experience we want you to have. Paramount Plus is it's own streaming service, which requires a subscription to access. Paramount Plus with Showtime is the new branded name after they acquired Showtime.

Having Paramount Plus with Showtime allows you to specific programing, here is a great article from our website that has more information: https://www.xfinity.com/learn/digital-cable-tv/premium-channels/paramount-plus-with-showtime#Pricing&otherinfo

I have a Showtime subscription but not a Paramount Plus one and looked in the On Demand section and see every show mentioned in the article I had access to. If you check Halo, the Chi, Stark Trek Discovery, Yellowjackets, Mayor of Kingstown, and Billions and you have the Paramount plus with Showtime subscription you will have the option to watch those shows for free. This will also apply to any other on demand content that has the free with Paramount plus with Showtime options to watch. You can also go into the On Demand section on your X1 set-top box, go to Paramount Plus with Showtime, and it will show all the programming that is free to watch.

The show Ink Master is on Paramount plus, if I want to view Ink Master I have to log in directly to the Paramount plus App and need the subscription to watch that. Hopefully this information is helpful for you.

So after all of this conversation---why does Xfinity continue to call this Paramount Plus with Showtime if it doesn't actually include everything that is available on Paramount Plus? If Xfinity wanted to be truthful about this, they would call it "Paramount (selected programming, but not everything on Paramount Plus) with Showtime." So at best, the current situation is misleading. But it feels more like a lie, like false advertising. Paramount Plus has some excellent original programming, but only a handful of these shows appear to be available to Showtime subscribers on Xfinity without additional charges at this time.

With everyone dragging their feet to actually solve this problem (perhaps by having Paramount Plus actually listing Xfinity as a "partner" at www.paramountplus.com/partner) you are basically telling current Xfinity Showtime subscribers that they're better off cancelling Showtime through Xfinity and subscribing separately to Paramount Plus with Showtime.

I have both Showtime with Xfinity and a Paramount Plus Subscription directly with Paramount Plus. I check every day on Paramount +

to see if Xfinity is finally listed as a partner. I would rather keep Showtime and cancel Paramount + for the ease of having Showtime right

on my box that I can record. However, I can't pay double for the same programing  much longer. I'm giving it one more month to see

if Xfinity will be listed as  the other 5 providers like DirectTV are .  Still would like to know who is responsible for preventing Showtime being

converted to Paramount + for Xfinity customers. The terrific shows like 1923 on Paramount + are not available to Showtime subscribers.

@user_udahiq clearly someone is refusing to make the deal. Suspect it’s Xfinity.

@XfinityJustinC

what about the shows on paramount plus? Those are the ones I want access to also. Like Tulsa King. I pay $300 a month and supposedly get every channel-I should be able to access Paramount plus with something I am paying for called “Paramount Plus with Showtime” right?? Ridiculous. Scam. . Illegal. I actually had a call rep tell me from the Loyalty Dept that Comcast will be correcting this terribly misleading error and including g Paramount plus any day now. If that happens, you will be able to keep this 28 year customer’s $300 a month, otherwise Verizon here I come!

This is insane. It legit says paramount + & showtime. So like many others. I realized showtime goes through paramount now. Tried to log in and it won’t let me. Tried other options and it kept asking me to pay. So there’s no way for us to single stream through showtime without paying paramount for the ability to do so or be limited in what we can watch through showtime (that we pay for) through xfinity’s app.   It should not say we have paramount +  & showtime unless we do. It should say something else worded differently and essentially have clearer answers from agents of xfinity. It shouldn’t take almost an hour to get a response telling us we don’t have what our bill says we have.   Yea it will be cheaper to go through paramount and delete Comcast. Finally get to cut the cord. Which we had talked about anyways as here it is almost April and I’m just realizing I can’t watch showtime
