Bally Sports

I will be dropping Xfinity if they cannot get Bally sports back. I pay over $300 a month for this service, and I watch every Braves game. Bally sports is the only reason I have the cable service. I even pay the premium for MLB extra innings, but the Braves games are blacked on that service because of the agreement with Bally. This is terrible for Xfinity customers and baseball fans. I am very angry and disappointed.

Why are you angry at Comcast and not Bally? Bally is in bankruptcy, and still seems like they can ask for the sun and the moon. They almost certainly are demanding EVERYONE continue paying for their networks, even though only a teeny tiny fraction actually watch it. Comcast knows that, and for every sports fanatic who leaves, they will probably keep hundreds of others due to lower prices.

Comcast may even have offered to make it a separate subscription, but Bally will have no part of that because they will see a giant revenue loss.

They're not gonna lower the price that much. Angry cause they cut off mid game.

Usually when channel and provider have these disputes. There's announcements ahead of time both parties stating their case, Nothing This time just channel gone.

@Andyross We're angry at Comcast and not Bally's because their bankruptcy is irrelevant. They've cut deals with Amazon, DirecTV, Cox, and Charter since filing chapter 11. DirecTV's deal was finalized just yesterday. So, they can't be asking for anything super outrageous if three major carriers agreed to it.

As a long-time Comcast customer, I am extremely upset by Xfinity's decision to cut their RSN feed of Bally Sports Detroit. I have remained with Comcast/Infinity for TV viewing, despite the high cost, because of certain programming options that includes access to Detroit Tigers & Red Wing games. I believe in supporting our local broadcast teams over MLB that have no connection to our city. Cutting ties because you cannot come to a mutual agreement on your carrier fees in such a large sports community as Detroit and its surrounding areas is unacceptable. If Xfinity cannot resolve this issue shortly, I will be cutting my ties with your services.  Xfinity has been steadily losing customers, so you cannot convince me that it cannot find a cost/benefit relationship to working out a mutually agreed upon arrangement going forward with Bally Sports as it meanders its way through their current financial crisis. The loss of revenue in just the Metro Detroit area, caused by additional customers canceling their services, when there are so many other TV viewing options available today is in my opinion (as a person with a business management degree) a flawed business strategy that misunderstands the company's viewing audience and their demands.

dutchtreat30, We would surely miss your business. Unfortunately, our programming agreement with DSG has expired. We have made a number of reasonable offers that DSG hasn't accepted. This means we no longer have the rights to carry their channels, including your local Bally Sports network. The loss of this channel will result in savings that we’ll pass along to you, and you’ll see an automatic credit in your bill in the coming weeks.

We pay networks and station owners for the ability to deliver their programming to our customers. We negotiate agreements to bring our customers the best value for the content they want. For more information, see xfinity.com/howitworks.

Xfinity is giving us no savings here, they're just taking the RSN fee off our bills, since they legally can't charge us for something they've CHOSEN to take away from us. That's not a gift, it's following the law.

Is the reporting true that the agreement expired because Diamond wanted Bally's to remain on the mid-tier level and Xfinity demanded that they only be available on the most expensive Ultimate tier? If so, Xfinity are the ones who want to soak us for even more money, not them.

Dropping my cable because of this. The only thing YouTubeTv doesn’t have is Regional Sports Networks. Now that you stupidly took away your one advantage, there is zero reason to give you any money. Bye Xfinity!

Bally has always been a trash provider.. just knew there would be future problems.

Xfinity offering a “discount” of $8-10.. it’s not a discount when there is a corresponding reduction in service. How many of us sports fans prop up all the useless channels that they reach into our wallets and steal from us to prop up? This business model needs to die. Streaming isn’t the answer either. A la carte programming can’t get here soon enough. Will be cancelling if not resolved by the weekend. We’ve all been sold false goods.

I've had Comcast/Xfinity since it was called Media One.  Not for much longer if they don't get this settled in next couple days.

You sports fans are not "propping up" the other channels. You are being HEAVILY SUBSIDIZED by all the non-sports fans covering your costs. If you had to pay for those channels directly, like a premium, they would probably be $20-$30 per month, at least.

@Andyross

Sounds a lot better than $100+ for stuff that’s not necessary. If you paid attention to your bill there is a local sports fee. That’s on top of having the sports channel included in a higher tier with several more channels that aren’t necessary and have nothing to do with sports.

@Andyross We’re paying an extra $29 a month for the “sports package” through Xfinity

@Andyross we do pay an extra fee. Do you work for Xfinity/Comcast? If so you would understand the extra to get the sports package. Before you pass judgement, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!!!! I keep having my bills increase even after being with this company for years. I am DONE!!!!!

You make a fair point, but sports fans also subsidize other channels they may not watch like MTV HGTV, Cartoon Network, News Channels. And without them these channels would cost more on their own.  Lets face it Cable TV is socialism!  lol

Forgot to mention it's all these sports fees causing people to leave, and further killing regular cable channels.

Agreed  we pay too much and mainly o ly watch sports. No Braves, No need to keep Xfinity! Pay Bally or I'm out!!!

Likewise.  I signed up for Xfinity primarily to get the Braves games. I know they have disclaimers, but when you sign up for specific channels and they are arbitrarily removed it feels like a breach of contract.  If the channels are not restored this week I will be dropping Xfinity as soon as I have Dish or DirectTV in place.

If I don't get Bally Sports I don't need Xfinity. My bill is over $300 a month.

Same here this is terrible.  To not have the Braves games in the middle of a season is astounding.

The Cardinal games on Bally Sports Mid-West has always been the reason I have been a loyal Xfinity customer for over 30 years... I hope the come back soon as MLB blackout the games here... or I will be looking for a provider that carries the Cardinal games.

I will give Comcast another couple of days to actually put their “valued customers” first for a change and reach a settlement with Bally’s.  If not, I will be returning to Direct TV and NEVER coming back.  $240 a month and can’t even watch the Tigers.  What a joke.  Shame on you Comcast.

I will also cancel if the Braves are not returned to the sir. The failure to reach an agreement sounds too much like greed to me so you will leave thousands with no other choice. Get it done!

The Atlanta Braves are the only reason that we keep Comcast/Xfinity. We too will be canceling our tv and internet services if they can not get a deal done with Bally Sports. This is such a disappointment. Please do better Comcast and fix this.

I will do the same. Direct TV is in my future.
